James I doubt we need another winger we've already got 6, we could do with another central midfielder.

He could be a brilliant signing, strong, left footed and good in the air, not too mention by January none of our first 4 central defenders will be under 30.

A good ball-playing centre half that Laudrup has already made an approach for. Yeah I think I could see that being of interest not least if Heitinga is on his way out.

Just seems to me that some players, maybe looking for a new club and with the possibility of much higher wages, deliberately make it known through one source or another that they are available and of course with Everton having a Spanish speaking manager it get's picked up on by the media. We have Alcaraz so why not Moreno alongside him?

We will find out in due course if it's just another story to fill a newspaper page.

I'd never heard of Mirallas before he landed in L4. I'd not heard of Pienaar, and barely anything of Fellaini come to think of it.

He's one of the best centre backs in La Liga. I would love to have him but I can't see it happening.

All the same, it's great to hear the names of top players being linked with Everton. Makes a change from McManaman, Redmond and Sinclair.

I don't see why EL Evertano being in for another central defender is unlikely as Johnny H may (hopefully) move on, and given the age of Distan.

Exactly what I logged in for Steven, this is very much likely, Johnny H looks like a goner and Moreno can be a sub for Distin.

Also want to mention Moreno might be a good support for Robles as the communication can be spanish when Howard doesn't play.

If Martinez is playing 3CBs we will need another one - and one that can pass the ball. Shame we don't have the money for Moreno though.

I had heard of Pienaar and knew quite a lot about Mirallas - though Fellaini was completely off my radar. I'm not suggesting this lad is no good, it was just a thoughtless comment really.

He was under contract at AZ Alkmaar when we played them 6 years ago in the UEFA Cup. Although he didn't play against us. One of the better CBs I saw in the Dutch competition the last years. He doesn't play hoofball. Now that doesn't say all that much; I rarely see a decent CB in the Dutch competition and Dutch managers (and fans and players alike) absolutely hate hoofball, it's drilled out every player very fast.

Apparantely he was a regular at Espanyol last two years. Would like to see him come as a replacement for our ageing CBs, not sure about the price though.

You can't always take the fees banded around in newspapers as gospel. They love to over glamourise the situation and include the potential salaries etc. into the price. Hence the £80million for Rooney that was reported recently and the £130million for Bale that I have read this morning.

This in IMO could very well happen. We certainly need another centre back to fit in with the new formation and we could do with one that is very comfortable on the deck.

Looking for 10, we offer 7, get him for 8.5, offload Johnny H for 5 and 3.5 isn't bad business me thinks.

Hector Moreno is a top class centre back who will be first choice for any club he plays for.
He is left footed, quick, very tough and can leap like Tim Cahill.

Being a ''no name'' as in well known or established means nothing.
Many such players just need the right scenario to break out in.
There must be many like that who are not recognised and go under the radar for years.
With so many more clubs that are more competitive all over the world it is impossible for us to know all of the potential ''no name'' stars yet to come to the Premier League.

I'm just wondering what the situation is with Heitinga? He was shite last season, but great the season before. T-Dubbers are keen to get rid, but what does RM think? There's a general consensus towards giving Jelavic another try under a new manager etc, should this not apply to JH?

I'm not mad for johnny, but he is a class player and I do worry about too many changes of personnel at the back, coupled with RM's questionable defensive record.

And, no. the current defenders can't "coach themselves" as has been mentioned in other threads previously. This sort of talk gives me the fear. They need solid defensive coaching, it's the most valuable legacy left by The Predecessor.

Back in 2005, at the age of 17, Moreno was in the Mexican team that won the U-17 World Cup. He joined AZ Alkmaar and won the Dutch title and the Cup. In 2012, at Espanyol, their player of the year. In the recent Cup Tournament in Brazil (Martinez was there for ESPN, and I remember him commenting on him as one of the few stand out players in a predominantly average Mexican team. Versatile central defender, has also played International matches in midfield position. At the age of 25, with a total of 46 Caps, I see no reason why he wouldn't improve our current squad, and would be more than chuffed if he came to join us. Good Heitinga replacement maybe?

While at Wigan Roberto usually had 1 or 2 South Americans in his teams, he got some bargains from that part of the world.

If rumours are true, the French midfielder as replacement for Fellai ni what £12m.

Moreno and then £6m for an attacking player... maybe Sinclair.
