Hamburg drop interest in Jelavic

Reports in Germany suggest that Hamburg SV have been priced out of their interest in Nikica Jelavic and have moved onto other options.

The Bundesliga club's sporting director, Oliver Kreuzer, had announced his interest in signing the Croatian earlier this month but admitted that a loan deal or one dependent on outgoing transfers would likely be the only way they could acquire him.

Martinez seems happy enough with his four strikers.
Jelavic will always be slightly ponderous but his anticipation and positioning are exceptional. Let's hope he has a good season.

It was never going to be a serious bid anyway since they are basically bankrupt and a big mess- but I did read something about €7m price tag and Jelavic being offered to HSV. Hope he stays and proves his worth.

The way the match went, he wouldn't have got a sniff against Juventus. Big Vic had to try and do it all himself. The service from Gibson, Fellaini, Mirallis, Pienaar, Coleman and Baines was 100% crap. In the final third they played like strangers chasing a ball in the dark.

Hamburg are busy trying to flog a few players and may come back for him.
