I think Anderson is an absolute quality player and definitely has the talent. The problem is over his fitness and professionalism/dedication. If Martinez felt he could get that out of him then I'd have no problem signing him.

There's also a link out there with Luca Marrone of Juventus, a central midfielder who's filled in at centre back for them. The story says we asked to loan him and they'll only let him go for a permanent deal around £9M.

It looks like we're out of cash to buy the extra CM we need, so it could be a case of selling Fellaini and converting the money into two good players for that position.

I wouldn't mind Carrick or Cleverley.

No doubt Anderson is a good player, but his attitude seems to be holding him back. I think there are better more affordable options out there.

Admittedly I've not seen the lad play, but after hearing his name in here I looked up Medel at Seville.

Organized tough tackling midfielder who has creativity well. Won plaudits for his performances against Madrid and in particular against Messi for Barcelona. At £6mil sounds like the sort of player we need.

Diame is a good player as well, or Capoue of Toulouse.

Anyway moving on. I like Anderson, though he is obviously a player with potential issues with his attitude. Plenty of talent though, and when he was consistently in the Utd team he was excellent for them.

It seems Martinez has a penchant for proven Premier League players so I get the feeling someone like his is much more likely than say, Capoue. I thought he was already on his way to Cardiff anyway..

Medel would be a massive gamble being an untried (in the PL) south American.

James - Capoue would be a gamble as much a Medel. For every success from the French League there is a flop. Medel has acquitted himself in a top side in one of Europe's top leagues. I understand your point, but I think that there have been a number of South American flops, but very many successes also.

Ever Banega has been OK for Valencia but all these South American names make me feel uncomfortable for some reason. He's only being mentioned because Southampton tried to buy him, and they soon cooled interest when they bought Wanyama anyway.

It just seems like too big a gamble to hope a South American player will settle well in the North West of England - especially ones coming from La Liga.

I have no problem with Anderson at all. He seems to impress every time I see him play for United. Good player at a position we need. He's 25. A midfield 3 with Gibson, Fellaini, and Anderson is very sexy indeed. I think the price is a load of crap though. No way you can demand 10 million for a guy that's been on the bench that long, regardless of the outrageous fee you paid for him 6 years ago. His deal only has 2 years left on it too so I think we have plenty of bargaining power.

If we're holding out for a higher price on Baines (re Utd) then I suppose we have to expect them to play hardball over the fee for Anderson.

Except Baines is the best left back in the world and Anderson is just a regular player that United has on the shelf. Us playing hard ball is justified. We have a sure thing. Anderson is a calculated risk. Them playing hardball over a transfer fee when he has 2 years left on his deal and they have a massive transfer kitty is unlikely. They'd part with him for much less than 10 million if Nani is has a price tag of 7.5.

Why don't we do what Spurs are doing with Bale and haggle for Fellaini and ask for 2 or 3 players as part of the deal.

Yup, Matthew Williams, this is the only deal we need to be doing with ManUre. Rooney would be almost as fat a risk as Anderson but, let's face it, we'll get another year out of MF at the most (he doesn't strike me as being Steve Bull-ish), and will the money we'll get for him go back into the team, or be diverted to service a loan that BK got from one of his famous friends? Wayne Rooney deciding to come back to Goodison could possibly turn into one of the greatest feel-good stories in football for eons.

Why would Martinez want a player like him, we can only assume if he wants an anchorman or defensive midfielder if you like, then Fellaini must be on his way given this is the role he wants to play.

If he wants a Defensive Mid, Diame is our best bet, or Medel from Sevilla. I'm unconvinced by Anderson.
