Link to McGeady refabricated again?

With a seemingly tenuous connection, The Mirror claims that Everton will step up their interest in Aiden McGeady early next week by submitting a £4million bid. Spartak Moscow are resigned to cashing in on the Republic of Ireland winger, who is in the final year of his contract.

McGeady claimed in Moscow last week that he has no plans to leave, but does want a move to the Premier League, with Roberto Martinez listed as a long-time admirer of the 27-year-old. Martinez tried to take him to Wigan with a £5m bid on the final day of the January window, but the move collapsed.

Spartak boss Valeri Karpin admits it is only a matter of time before McGeady leaves: “The transfer window is still open and there will be offers for McGeady — sooner or later he will leave us,” he said this week.

“If Aiden stays, it means we will have competition for places, but McGeady says that his family do not want to stay in Russia.”

This guy is the most headless chicken ever! I hope and pray this is just journos and agents touting!
I would have no hesitation in recommending him for Liverpool! Where I am sure he would fit in well!

Derek, I bow to your superior knowledge on the assumption you've seen him a few times.

I have only seen a few TV snippets where in my humble opinion he looked quite useful - able to go past people - a skill we've missed for eons, marvelous in my book.

However, surely this is our market - players with ability but need work?

At least we have a coach who isn't a centre half giving us a chance to sort such players.

Barry (656) I don't profess to have superior knowledge, but have seen him on several occasions and was not at all impressed! This can be borne out by some of our Irish supporters who unfortunately see him (play) turn out for the Republic! In fact if you go back a few posts about 1-2 weeks ago on this very subject you will see their comments!
Roberto, who I hold very high in my estimation thus far, will go down a few notches if he pursues this one!

Will check that one out! Have you seen the video of Jorginho of Hellas Verona, who we have also been 'linked' with he looks as though he can play a bit! Mind you they are talking £7-8M, so I suppose he should be, probably the last we'll hear of that one, unless they will take Big Vic, Johnny or Nais and a lucky bag!

What an over-rated pile of fluff McGeady is. Nothing more than a liability if we were to sign him (which I don't think we will). We have a steady ship in the way of players attitudes and aptitudes at the moment, but he would certainly rock the boat!

I like this lad. He's a cracking player and I'd have him tomorrow. Also, unlike Pienaar, he can run quick and he can run forward, and contrary to popular copycat opinion, he can get his head up and thread a pass.
Martinez knows what he wants and if he gets this lad I will be delighted.

Money can be spent much better elsewhere Ross. This guy is like Shaun-Wright-Phillips gone wrong, he has no end product what so ever. Iv'e seen him play a few times and he's never once impressed me. Just ask most Ireland fans and they will tell you the same thing

I wouldn't want Martinez to waste £4 million on this substandard player, if this rumour is true and we have £4 million spare to spend, I think Martinez has proved at Wigan he can get much better value for that amount of money. Lets not forget we can offer much better wages than Wigan could, so we should be able to attract higher calibre of players

Laughing me head off reading Andy Dunn (rs journo) in today's Sunday Mirror being absolutely hysterical over the Suarez transfer saga. I know all these rag reporters are supposed to be objective when it comes to their teams but this dickhead has totally lost the plot. I suppose he will be burning his replica Suarez shirt soon.

Sky sports have also reported thus story just this afternoon, so there must be some truth in it.

I'll probably get laughed at for saying this, but I've only ever seen him play once in an international game a few months back, and that was only about the last half hour of the match, but I watched him put together a few telling passes and a spectacular diagonal ball from left to right, finding his player on a six pence so to speak, I never saw this "headless chicken" as some people call him.

I can only say or write about what I find or see, but from what I have seen, I thought he looked half decent.

We were linked with him a couple of years ago and the press often just rehash the same story regardless of substance. The story seems to be, primarily, about him moving from Moscow and the Everton bit just tagged on by a lazy journo.

Unfortunately Kevin, a lot of headless chickens who have seen less of him than you have, think it's trendy to knock him.
I've always liked him. He's a cracking player and I hope Martinez gets him.
