Moyes prepares derisory double bid

 Comments (187)  jump
Tomorrow's lead football story in The Guardian claims that David Moyes is preparing an offer of just £30m in attempt to land both Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, while The Times and The Independent suggest the figure will be £35m.

The Guardian suggested earlier today that Fellaini could be set for a £23.5m switch to Old Trafford and there have been further rumblings elsewhere of a fee closer to £25m.

But the insinuation that the Blues could lose two vital players for a fee that combined is closer to the value of just one on their own will hopefully be met with a firm rejection from Goodison Park.

The Mail, meanwhile, claims that Fellaini "has his heart set" on linking up with Moyes again in the £23m deal mooted today. They too suggest that United will make a formal approach for the Belgian and England internationals and that Moyes will continue his pursuit of Cesc Fabregas whether he lands Fellaini or not.

So £12 million for Baines gets laughed out of town, £23.5 million is the believed Fellaini release fee, so they come in with £30 million for the pair? Tell them to fuck off and cut off communication.

Typical Moyes. Thinks he can waltz in and make frankly insulting bids for our best players. I absolutely can't stand him now he's gone there.

Why would he bid for the 2nd best left back in England as he said? He could get Cole for cheaper. He thinks he can get them on a cheap because he's Man Utd manager. No wonder no one wants to sign for him.

I notice he's cracking.

Glared at some Swedish reporter for asking him about Rooney and refused to answer about Fabregas. He said he "can't" answer the question. He could, he just knows Fabregas doesn't want to sign for him.

Indeed! If you don't want to sell then delete any emails bin any faxes and hang up on any phone calls from the club(s) you don't want to sell to. The only time to do business is if the player submits a transfer request which is when you should sell anyway.

So, that's £18 million for Fellaini and £12 million for Baines from what I imagine.

Is this the same David Moyes who was moaning about the Man City tapping up of Lescott, I used to like Moyes but now I think he is the biggest cock on the planet.

£30m for the pair is an insult he should go and hang himself if he thinks he can get them pair for that the clown.

Maybe the old excuse he used with us, we bid for them but they didn't want to sell, but bid way below the valuation.

What a muppet.

If this is true it beggars belief - must mean that OFM is panicking rather than a serious evaluation of the players'actual worth.

Keeping my tin hat on as at this stage this should result in a perfunctory up the Swanson (for any P&R fans out there).

Ross

Firstly, this story is probably a load of bollocks! Secondly, Moyes will just identify his transfer targets, then it will be up to the Man Utd board how much they offer us to buy our players. Moyes will have little input on how much money is spent on which ever players he wants to buy

I hope Bobby doesn't get drawn into this. Doesn't even deserve a response.

I don't want either of them to go there, but if they were going to be sensible about it, the bidding must surely start at £40M+.

Mark, how come that when SAF was in charge, there was never a problem paying the asking price. Was the same board in place then?

Since Moyes arrived, he's messed about with insulting bids for both Fabregas and Baines. Hope Bill tells him to f..k off.

He's taking the piss just like he did in the last six months. He would have helped set the release clause in Fellaini's contract, yet suddenly he thinks he's not worth that, If you want him then pay the fee or fuck off! The Baines's bid is derisory and lets hope that Kenwright is still so pissed off with what happened over Moyes's appointment at Old Trafford that he responds with a derisory bid for Rooney!

Mark 110 - the man has intimate knowledge of how much it would take for us to consider a sale.

In fact, he has probably sat there with tiny tears and discussed in detail how much we would accept.

To say he won't have any input into how much Utd will offer for these players is plainly misguided, he knows precisely how much it will take for Bill to go weak at the knees!

Given the very public whoring of Sewer Rat and Galen from Planet of the Apes for extortionate prices, Everton already has a precedent it can follow, if they must be sold then its £40m plus per player cash up front or do one and also twist the blade by saying the club will not entertain a sale to a Premier League rival. If a call comes from the Theatre of Wet dreams I'd just hang up, cheeky bastards.

David Moyes isn't taking the piss, he's the Manchester United manager in case you hadn't notice and owes Everton nothing. All's fair in love & war.

He knows we don't have a pot to piss in, and this is a cut-throat business so suck it up lads. We make derisory offers for players ALL THE TIME, because that's football.

He also knows exactly how Kenwright & our board operate, and knows Everton's finances pretty well too. Did none of you see this coming, really? It was always going to happen, so I wouldn't be surprised one bit, IF this story is true.

That's a fairly big if.

On another note, I'd bite their hands off if they want to pay full whack for Fellaini - he isn't worth anywhere near £23m or whatever his clause is, and once the clause ceases in a couple of weeks, clubs can bid even less and still buy him.

If they want Baines and they offer the right money, we'll sell, we'll have to because we need the cash, and if Baines decides he wants to go then he will. It's all if's & but's at the moment anyway, but in short - Fellaini doesn't fit our system, and we could (could!) buy two players with that money.

We'd miss Baines WAY more, but I couldn't care less if we sell Fellaini to Utd. Square peg/round hole.

Sky news.

BK: "People can shout and complain and I underSTAND they're disappointed and believe me I am too, but yer know (looks up) these two lads are....in a way....David's boys. I mean if you saw them together, you'd swear they were his own flesh and blood...ok maybe not with Felli's hair (chuckles)...but erm, no in all seriousness, I can hardly deny these lads moving to be with what in effect is their dad (mobile rings). Sorry could I just take this (walks away)...Yeah I've got it...no honest, I've just done the deal...I'll give you the cheque in the morning...So January the next one then?....Yeah no problem....Barkley, hopefully between 15 and 20 mill....(fade)"

IMO facts are that fellaini hasn't been a consistent performer for us. Been brilliant in a handful of games, mediocre in some, and poor in others. 23 mil I'd take as long as they pay 15 quid to take all the 'fro wigs off our hands. Per wig that is.

He'll be out by April, surely. Sadly all this, however true (and he could've denied any interest a while ago), tarnishes Moyes' legacy as Everton manager.

It'd be hard to see the point of it all if these two went for less than their worth. Keep them and lets finish above these twats. I want their CL place and this is the year to get it and see Moyes out for a second time.

All players are replaceable and none are bigger than the club. £35m - I reckon we should consider it! Baines is worth at least £15m - but he hasn't signed a new contract which suggests to me he's on his way. Felli has been saying he's off for over a year. £35m to Everton is (unfortunately) a lot of money, realatively.
With £20m we could get two or three, young, half decent Prem players, lower our wage bill and throw some money at the banks, and get RM to stamp his mark well and truly on the team before January or next summer.

Fuck right off Moyes. Footballers aren't like a packet of biscuits at Tesco... you don't get a bulk buy discount.

One player worth £23million, plus one player worth £20million equals £43million. You don't get 30% off for buying both.

Meanwhile, if Fellaini goes, I hope we get McCarthy (valued by Wigan at £20 million) for about £6 million.

That would be ok.

Jim Stephens
148 Posted 08/08/2013 at 00:06:43
Andrew P - agree with the sentiment. Always thought highly of Moyes (more for his integrity than for his tactics). Not shocked given that football these days is a mercenary joke but expected better from someone who regularly preached an old school purist approach to the game.

Still naive at the young age of 36 (just).

Ross Kerry

This should just be a straight no in my opinion. Worst case scenario full market value for each player, and no exchanges.

£30M buys one or other (maybe with £7.5M change for MF) Otherwise we'll keep both of these regular internationals and see how the land lies after the world cup. There's a championship midfielder that helped get his team relegated who we're being £15M. Any offer below £40M for both is an utter piss take.

Time to send the message out, we're not your bitch.

I would much prefer to sell them to rival clubs than Man U I am sure we could get fairer and more lucrative deals from Chelsea and or City.

Ross Kerry

Baines and Fellaini are his fallback position once he's failed to do what the manger of MUFC is supposed to do. He is relying on his former club to get him out of a hole by selling it's best players for a fraction of their worth.

Has there ever been a manager with less class than David Moyes?

Kill two birds with one stone, string him along until the deadline and then say no.

Steve Brown
160 Posted 08/08/2013 at 01:09:26
This is an heavily inflated market at the moment due to PSG, Monaco and City, therefore the starting price for me is £45m for the pair. Moyes must think our finances will lead us to sell, but the example he set himself when we fleeced City for Lescott is the way to go here.

With one exception that is - if either of them are leaving then the deal has to get done this week so we can bring replacements in.

We all knew this day would come.

Moyes is just doing what's best for for the club he works for now. If he was still at Everton, I would expect him to do the same.

That being said, I hope we tell him to stick it.

The reason Bale looks likely to be sold for such ridiculous money is because Spurs don't need/have to sell him. Unfortunately, Moyes knows exactly what our financial situation is and will try to exploit it to his/Manure's advantage.

He knows with the right offer ( not necessarily fair offer) that he could get them.

Over to you, Bill.

I'm really enjoying Moyes making a fool of himself in the transfer market. He thought that players went to Manchester United just because of the name. Turns out they went because of the man he replaced. He's out of his depth. If this bid comes in, it's getting dick slapped out of here, just like the first one.

Jim Knightley, I couldn't disagree more. The media monitor and contribute to sites like TW sniffing the opinions of real fans. If EFC aren't then they really are bigger idiots than any of us imagined. I would prefer it if more fans critiqued the imagined value of phantom bids, it’s a real time communication between supporter and the club,

I would also add that if it appears in Guardian then it’s more likely to be true, statistically they bullshit less than the rest.

Moyes is just doing his job, but we should tell him to stick it.

Didn't our totally truthful Chairman make the statement on TV that there was agentleman's agreement that Moyes would not come back for any of our players on the grounds we kissed his arse and paid him to manage Utd for 2 months.

But thereagain I suppose a gentleman's agreement has to be between two gentleman so that's the end of that one.

For me this is about more than money it is about statement of intent and we should look to be in the ascendency while they are on the slide.

Nothing lasts forever and Davey should have thought about that before going there.

Albert Perkins
178 Posted 08/08/2013 at 04:04:37
If the players want to leave, then it is hard to hold onto them, especially if any club makes us a fair offer, maybe 45mil. However, it is well within our rights to say it is too close to the end of the transfer deadline for us to find decent replacements, or we will be at a huge disadvantage for the upcoming season.

If United really wanted them, to ensure the deal went through they should buy early. It is their poor business decision and we are not in the business of strengthening their team at our expense. We have the upcoming TV money to satisfy the bank, and at this time the new manager needs support from the directors.

Of course, if Roberto has adequate replacements lined up, then the deal can be done. Bit risky, though, as the window closes.

I'm not sure what I feel about this. New manager and many new players who are unproven in the PL. It would be better to keep the marque players for next season to settle the club in this transitional year. But that is not the way things work out. So a scary, but exciting year ahead. COYB.

Not a chance of getting £23 million for Fellaini, never has been imo.

All those saying that Fellaini isn't worth £23m are nuts. He's worth what people are prepared to pay and what we are prepared to sell him for. Se don't have to sell him for less than his release clause, fact.

And I'm sure that BK said RM would have all the funds from transfers so that implies we don't need to sell for financial reasons.

I think we can lose Felli now and still be OK, but with only a week til the start of the season we shouldn't sell Baines.

I'll be pissed off if DM has left it this late to bid for our players. What a total disrespectful fuck-head if it's true. The club that gave him a chance and, lets face it, made him a rich man - and he treats us like that?

Do a United and sell them abroad rather than to rivals.

I get the feeling it is all just testing the water / negotiation via the media. Softening up the fans with silly bids.

£25m+ for Fellaini absolute minimum, £15m for Baines absolute minimum. They are *at least* £10m short.

And, if we have any friends in the media, we should be seeding stories about Real, Inter, Chelsea, Barcelona, Borussia, Bayern offering far more. Shouldn't take this nonsense lying down imho.

And if we sell those two, it's solidly back to mid-table and below I'm afraid.

People not understanding the release fee thing is getting frustrating.

United don't have to wait until his release fee expires to bid less. They can bid less now and we can accept. All the release means is that if they bid £23 mil (or whatever it is now) we have to accept. It is possible we'll accept £20 mil for him after the release fee expires, but not because it has expired.

It is a fairly basic concept that a number of people can't seem to get their heads around.

Interesting comment by Bignose RS Skysports pundit (you all know the one!). If a player does not put in a transfer request they receive the balance of their contract when sold. Hence no request from ratboy, Bale or Rooney. They want to play for other teams but don't want to lose the money..
Is this the reason Baines and Fellaini are keeping quiet?. Baines hasn't exactly released a statement saying he doesn't want to go anywhere.
I think they'll both go to OT for about £37m and before the season starts. Oviedo has been getting most of the pre-season game time, wonder why?.
I also believe Martinez knew this was inevitable and where the bulk of his kitty would come from. We've spent what?, £8m? The name on the gaffers door has changed nothing else.

I have to laugh at all the bile and hatred aimed at David Moyes on these pages. When I did the same thing on TW going back about 9 years or so, I was shouted down and insulted daily. Some of the same posters who now want to slaughter Moyes even though he is no longer at the club used to defend Moyes when he was at his worst!

Moyes is a prick now it but the trouble is he always was a prick — just some of you couldnt see it. If we are being honest, all Moyes is doing is trying to buy players he knows well and trying to do best for his new club. It's up to Kenwright to play hard ball and get top dollar for any player we sell to any of Europe's elite clubs. This scenario is the norm. The price goes up, the richer the club are. Don't blame Moyes for wanting our top men as every player has his price; blame the chairman if he lets them go on the cheap

.If we can manage to get £45 million for Baines and Fellaini, then it's good buisness and good luck to the players. This is the highest the Baines stock will ever be so let's cash in and get the top price. If Spurs can't keep hold of Bale or the Shite Ken Dodd or even Man Utd keep hold of Rooney, what makes us any different?

Let Moyes bid and lets screw the twat to the floor. We know he is Desperate Dave and desperate for these two particular players so let's make him sweat. Moyes will come back with improved offers as no other top players will go any were near him. Moyes has to have players he trusts and can stick by – that means we have him by the bollocks....

Over to you, Bill.

The clause in the Fellaini contract was for about £23 million the deadline for that has passed so we can now put that up to whatever we want to i'd say at least £28 million for Fellaini now so Man United bid £12 million for Baines and we told them to fuck off and they want to return with an offer of £2 million!! Fuck off you bell ends! No one wants to join you now Ferguson has left because finishing 7th every season doesnt really intrest big players does it Mr Moyes!

If this happens then I will have burned my bridges with Moyes.

Realistically though £35-40m is a lot of money for RM to work with. Fellaini can be hit-and-miss and whilst I rate Baines very highly, I do recall many of us wondering why Moyes both bought and then persisted with him in the early days.

Maybe it's time to bring in Baines mk2 and cash in on Felli before his value potenitally drops.

Regardless, if this is true then Moyes is dead to me...

Ha ha.. they are funny at OT aren't they?! £30m? So thats your bid for Baines.. who last year was the top assist maker in EUROPE.. what are you gonna pay for Felli!?

Seriously, Moyes, you valued them so highly when you were here, know that they are STILL valued the same here... just cos you decided to go.

They are two of our most important players. I know Felli is sometimes in and out.. but they guy is class and we need to keep them. Just cos Fabregas turns you down for £35m you think you can get our best players for less than that for BOTH?!?! Two words.. and I am a polite man..but one is OFF!!!!

We as a club are really getting the piss taken out of us now. Someone said on here last week that the apology would be followed up by a crap offer, I can't seriously believe there are people still on here indirectly defending DM, eg, James Marshall 139... The guy may owe us a bit of respect like he got off us, he could've been sacked after his second season.

I wonder if you said he didn't owe us anything after he threw the semi-final or endless derbys? I do believe Kenwright was stitched up over the Man Utd move as well. He can't hold his water so there's no way he'd be filled in on that secret. We were conned for the last 6 months by Moyes, it makes you wonder if Moyes encouraged this relationship with Man Utd in his time that has meant we are seen as a feeder club with his ambitions to be the next manager.

Personally (I didn't think I''d say this), I think we should take a leaf out of the RS's book. They basically won't do any business with Man Utd and I'd like to do the same. I'd put out a announcement that we will not do business with them any more and slap a £35M price tag on Baines and tell Moyes to fuck off.

Fellaini, if he's going to go, I'd tout him to Chelsea or abroad to stop Man Utd getting him. They tapped up Rooney and Moyes. In the words of Alex Ferguson 'I wouldn't sell that lot a virus'.

All together now...Ahhhh. Moyesy woysey is finding his new job 'difficult'

Ha,ha- wait until he loses a few games ;

He told Inside United: "The transition from Everton to United has been difficult at times as I have hard decisions to make. Everton are a great club and I was proud to manage them.

"I can't deny Manchester United are on another level. Let's be honest, it would be a step up from just about any club in the world."

There could be a bigger end game to Mr Moyes's actions. The problem he has coming from little old Everton is that he will be seen as soft, and due to owe us favours for the type of club we are. That could possibly lead to loans and/or transfers to help us out as we are skint.

Now if Moyes signs our best players, especially under value. If he shows us no respect and possibly manipulates the situation in his favour knowing what he knows then he severs all ties with us. He becomes their manager rather than being it, which means the fans will back him more over time, especially if baines is crossing for fellaini to head home against the big teams in europe,

IF we sell both these players, life will go on lads. It's time for Oviedo to step up, he is more than capable, and Barkley can come in too. Martinez will have lots of money to spend to rebuild the club in his own image - just leave Wigan alone now please!

I think there is an inevitability about all this - we'll lose one and quite possibly both of these players to Man Utd. But as I have already said, life will go on. This is, after all, a new era at Goodison.

Expecting Fellaini to go and hoping Baines will stay. It may be the optimist in me.

This "offer" has to be lousy guesswork at best. The clause in Fellaini's contract and the rejected Baines "bid" come in at a far higher figure. Ian suggests £37m which would seem to be at the low end of any reasonable price, yet still 20% higher than the "offer". He also points out that Oviedo has been justifiably getting games in the pre-season. There may - or may not - be nothing to this. Other players have also got games.

The past few years have shown that every player has a price regardless of who they play for. Moyes also pointed out more than once that Everton sell high and aren't to be found flogging quality in the bargain basement. He should have looked back over his old quotes before starting this one.

Barry Rathbone

Thing is we are in a great negotiating position.

It is clear as day Moyes start has been woeful already his bad tempered, bewildered stare at the press has set in.

An uninspiring pre season, players turning utd down and playing hard to get has him absolutely desperate for anything positive.

Nail the fuckers hands to the table - tell him 50 million the pair or jog on.

Chris Ashton

I think the whole 'should we sell' point is mute. For a fee of around £40-45 million then yes we should sell. A team with these two in only finished 6th last season.

Look at it this way, Spurs should sell Bale for 2 reasons, one the money and two because they could only finish 5th with him in the team. Same as suarez, 2nd hightest scorer and they could only finish 7th. So perhaps with £80 million to spend, Spurs could be better than last season and have no Bale.

Imagine if we sold our best 2 players this week, pocketed 42.5 million and it was to be invested back in the team. That is 4 £10 million players we could sign. Sell them for double in 3 years and we make £80 million on the deal. The alternative is we then qualify for the champions league with those sort of players. If we arent investing 100 % of the money then I wouldn't want to sell.

Posted on twitter last night, would we be better off this season minus fellaini but signed Diami, Kalou, Alderwierd, Mcarthy (add ons deal) and a young player? We would add strength, genuine pace, versitility and structure with all those players. We could be genuinly a threat to the top 4 if we learn to defend!

Moyes wouldn't have made the bid himself, he would have said to his board that he wanted them and they would then make contact and try to negotiate. If Moyes said to the board, "Don't bid £12m for Baines because I think he is worth £20m" they would tell him to piss off; they are going to try and get him as cheap as they can, just like we do when we bid for players.

I would not accept any bid for Baines, but I would accept £20m for Fellaini because I think he's just not interested and is over-rated.

Interesting that the media were saying a couple of weeks ago that Arsenal was his "Dream move".

£40m and not a penny less.

Fellainin on his day is unplayable and we should price him accordingly. Just because his day doesn't come around every week is no reason to reduce the "selling" price.

Even BK knows he will have to get as much as possible if they go.

The only surprising aspect of this is that people are surprised. I don't know why so many blues are letting themselves get wound up about it either.
This is the business of football: managers move on and like to take some of their better employees with them. Martinez has done it so why expect Moyes not to?

Clubs try to buy players as cheaply as possible and Moyes doesn't work for Everton anymore. Get over it.

If either or both go, I hope Everton get the best possible price and use it wisely. I think we are still light in defensive midfield and we would need to replace like for like anyone who goes.

Basically: If you want to improve, sell your best players and buy cheaper alternatives. And then sell them when they improve.

Surely the idea is to replace your worst players with better ones, not the other way round.

David Moyes this morning:

David Moyes admits to having found it 'difficult at times' after stepping up to 'another level' at Manchester United.

He has taken the backroom staff, let him take Fellaini so he feels at home.

Then RM can go out and get an additional centre back and a defensive midfielder who can play to his system.

I wonder if RM has found it difficult stepping up another level?

Phil #229, When your transfer Budget is £6 million on a good year then yes it is quite thoughtful logic. We have no more money to spend, or even to pretend to. We cant advance without our best players sure, but then we have no money to replace our worst either! So for a club like us we have to sell our best, replace the worst and expect the ones underneath become our best. It worked for years under Moyes so it is sound logic.

In a perfect world we would go ahead and sign Coleman, Ba, Lebondowski, Gundogan this summer. For the transfer fee these have all gone for in the past it is entirely possible to buy quality like this, but unless you can see the future then every signing is a gamble. I guess no-one would say no to replacing Baines and Fellaini with Lebondowski and Gundogan, with 30 left over?

Norwich have spent £25m, Southampton £21m. Swansea and Cardiff, those giants of world football have spent close to £20m.

Everton have spent £6m - I can't believe this is THE budget. So if we have to sell Fellaini to buy, i'd like to know....

Where's the money Bill?

Mark Tanton

Chris, of course you're right - this IS Everton's transfer policy and those who still protest we not and shouldn't be a selling club are not facing up to the shitty reality.

Moyes was, and now Martinez will have to be a manager who has to sell his best talent and find cheaper prospects. Such is life at the black hole of Everton.

Andrew Ellams

Nicholas, difference is those clubs have spent that money and still don't have squads to equal ours. Those clubs are gamballing with their new found TV riches and if it doesn't come off they could be in a whole pile of shit.

Everton have spent a minimal amount and could possibly come out in the black as the wage bill has been reduced too but in my opinion have taken a step forwards with squad depth and quality

Chris

You said it should be the policy for the likes of Liverpool and Spurs. These clubs don't need to sell their best players. They can happily spunk £20M on a player without selling first.

I agree Everton have to sell players before we buy...sadly. We try to sell high and buy low, which has worked thanks to some great scouting. I think it's more about who we sell though. Fellaini is the perfect candidate. Highly valued by many other clubs but I don't honestly think we'd miss him. Whereas Baines, Mirallas, Jagielka, even Coleman would be missed more but fetch a lot less in the transfer market.

So yes, sell Fellaini, but I'd generally try to avoid selling your best players.

Matt Traynor

Andrew #237, way to go there buddy. Just because these clubs have spent money they're taking a risk? Whilst I'm not necessarily envious of all of the signings they've made, I would say that if the worst case did happen, they'd be able to shift them on easily enough. With the increased money from broadcasting, the parachute payments have also been increased.

I think Nicholas has a valid point. Whilst we're losing best part of £10m a year in interest charges alone, we'll struggle to keep up with the likes of Swansea and Cardiff. And Norwich. And West Brom. And... oh, you get my point hopefully.

I don't see why Moyes is getting the heat on this. First rule of negotiation - if you don't ask you don't get. Moyea is tight and refuses to pay over his price. It's this reason we got Arteta, Jags and Leacott so cheap.

I do think its one of the reasons his deals took so long and also why we lost out on a few like Parker. Just because he is with a rich club doesn't men there is not budget to work from. If he blows n additional 10m on our boys he might lose the ability to finance another.

We can of course just say no.

Barry 220, I don't see that we are in s strong negotiating position at all. Baines has kept his powder dry but Fellaini has made it fairly obvious he see's his future elsewhere and as far as I know there aren't any other offer for him headed our way. So essentially our option is to flog him to Man u or keep a player who doesn't want to be here and has look half-arsed all pre-season and earns enormous wages.

There are plenty of good midfielders out there Man u could buy with £20m but not that many other clubs that might buy Fellaini and therefore I would say their position is stronger than ours. Of course ultimately its our decision but RM won't want a player who's desperate to leave.

I say sell Fella for anything over £20m and keep Baines unless he professes a desire to leave in which case its £16m minimum.

Sam #257, I can only agree with your comment about getting rid of someone who's desperate to leave - look at the nonsense across the park.

But has Fellaini actually suggested he wants to go? It looks like media tittle-tattle to me (never thought I'd write tittle-tattle on TW, but I digress).

I know he has form, especially his 'arl fella, but I hope if he does want to go, Everton require he submits a request, so that we can avoid paying the ludicrous loyalty bonus that have no place in the modern game!

Regarding Baines, I doubt very much he will agitate for a move, but if we accept a bid then he'll go. Same shit as Arteta. Some fans still believe he wanted to leave Everton. He didn't. I know that for a fact. He was happy to move after Everton sold him. And that deal was done weeks before the eventual deadline day sale. Thanks Bill!

He's not come out and publicly stated he wants to go but he has certainly said he wants champions league football and that is something we cannot offer him. Poor old Davey Moyes. He's gone from a football club to a money-laundering big business which just happens to have a football team as its shop window. No wonder he's in shock.

It is rather nostalgic watching Man Utd supporters wriggle with discomfort as the transfer window approaches its final days - they have a start player who wants to leave and they have been a disaster in their prolonged attempt to being anyone in.

I really want to keep Felli because I don't see us replacing him with better and those that think Oviedo can step into Leighton's shoes are seriously deluded IMO.

However we also have to consider Felli could just run his contract down and we would end up with nothing or a minimal fee because unless we start winning things he will want away anyway.

I am probably dreaming here but I really could see Man Utd allowing Rooney to come to us you know. They'd much rather he came to us than a title rival and he could be used as a makeweight for the two. I'd take Rooney plus about £10-15 million. Through extra sponsorship and shirt sales to the club he'd be more than worth it. plus would give us enough to sign a decent centre midfielder as a replacement for Fella.

I know, I know, wages this and wages that. Man Utd would have to pay him the remainder of his two years in contract, they may well turn around and say "Wayne, either you go to Everton and we'll pay you off, you go elsewhere you'll have to hand in a transfer request." I reckon we'd probably push his wages to about £100k per week. He's been and won everything he wanted to, how about giving his best years to his boyhood club? Deal to be done, lads and lasses?

Slim-to-none chance, I know... but surely we could work something out where everyone is happy...

This is pretty simple with regard to Fellaini, Moyes has got a week to pay the £23.5 fee. If not we keep him, with 3 years left on his contract we have no need to sell him. But yet more hypocrisy from Moyes who had a go at city for not paying what Everton wanted for Lescott until the season was kicking off.

Moyes owes Everton nothing and its his job to get the players he wants for as little money as possible.

It is however the job our OUR BOARD to get as much money for the players we sell and also not sell any players that the current manager wants to keep - assuming that with the new TV money we're not in the same basket case financial difficulty we were in the summer we sold Arteta.

Given that, I think our board should publicly state that these are two of our most important players and whilst every player has a price, the amount offered (if 30-35m was actually offered by manu), does not come close to our valuation of the said players.

Also we would seek a premium to our valaution if we were to sell to a rival premiership club - which is where manu under Moyes, imo anyway, now lie.

Sell the fro for 25m and keep Baines - everyones happy (except many supporters that is).

My frustration about this double transfer is that "it's all gone quiet over there"...(points at the board!!) They should be fighting all out to keep both of our prize assets, surely to give RM a fighting chance to get off to a good start to the fast approaching season.

The only thing I'd say to Felli in particular is, give me your all until the Jan transfer window and you MIGHT get your wish (cue dodgy handshake).

Baines, I'd keep him all day, he's my fave player at the club and offer him a big fat contract, a true professional. A complete opposite to the cabbage across the park.

Scott 300, deffo take that particularly with Oviedo, Stones and Barkley showing so well pre season.

I am firmly of the opinion the quicker Martinez has "HIS" team installed the better and 50 mill would sort that at a stroke.

If this is true, it smacks of mind boggling hypocrisy from Moyes. Of course, now that he manages a 'big club', we are fair game! Bollocks. RM and BK should tell him to fuck right off. Mind you, we may be worrying unduly. After all, it will take dithering Davey until the window closes to make his bid! Look at the protracted pantomime the Fabregas bid became. Clearly it is Moyes who can't simply make a bid for a player, sign him and parade him before the media, without it turning into a long drawn out farce.

Everton games against Man Utd from now on, despite being massive, have now gone up another notch. Our former manager having done a great job with us, that has been sharply forgotten due to him now doing the dirty on us, and I'm sure he will now get a negative reception by the majority when he rreturns to Goodison Park.

Since he's been gone, it's confirmed that in my eyes Moyes is really boring: David Moyes is a Mouse... Roberto Martinez is a Shark.

If they were card players, Moyes would be limping or folding most of his hands: he is very cautious and will only play his tried and trusted hands. He will go all in at home against teams like Stoke but – away to Madrid or Chelsea – he will fold.

Expect Moyes to only play premium hands but unfortunately these do not win all of the time and do not come around often enough. More experienced card players such as Ancelotti, will know what David's hand will be and will adjust accordingly to try to get the better of the hand. David Moyes plays a tight-passive card style.

Martinez has more understanding of position and will see more flops if the price is right and it makes sense during that situation. He will take more risks but these are all within reason due to the probabilities being in his favour. Sometimes he will get outplayed but this is rare and he will lose less hands than a card player who has no Plan B, such as Moyes.

Martinez will have more highs in the long run due to him playing his cards in a tight aggressive style. This works in his favour. He doesn't take too many risks and will be keeping it tight. As Martinez sees more hands and allows himself more opportunities for other factors to work in his favour, such as opposition card players' decisions, he has a great chance of winning many hands and the hands he loses will not feel bad because he knows the most important factor:

"It does not matter if I win the hand, all that matters is I play the hand well".

If he plays the hand well more times than not, he will win more times than not.

Pure speculation. How on earth would the papers know what Man Utd are preparing to bid? Moyes clearly needs to get his arse in gear and sign some players. I just hope that if he has decided to go for our boys he (or Man Utd) just cut to the chase and offer the sort of money they are worth. We have made it pretty clear we don't want to sell so anything below their market value would be insulting and unsettling. The minimum for Fellaini would be his buy out clause and Baines must be in the £18m+ price range. Therefore a combined bid of anything less than £40m should be firmly rejected.Though I would hate to see either of them leave, £40m+ would give Martinez a great opportunity to put together a squad of his choice and it doesn't necessarily spell doom for Everton.

How many games does Fellaini seem interested and give 100%, Baines on the other hand is more consistent and if you go by all round contribution to team performance, well that's why I'd rather keep him. Squeeze want we can out of Fellaini deal if he wants to be tempted by the ginger minger!!

Knowing BK, we will end up giving Baines and Fellaini away for £30 million and get Sammy McIlroy and Mike Duxbury coming this way in a player plus cash deal. BK caved in to the Mancs over the Rooney sale who was given away really.

Still no-one has mentioned if we are on for 25% of any Rooney deal out of Manchester. I have been searching all week for an answer, does anyone know for sure?

At the end of the day BK has the final word. So, if he has even a millilitre of testosterone left in his shrivelled nuts he must come out and say, "David darling, it's £25m minimum for Felli plus Jones. And as for Bainsey, well David darling you will have to suck my lollipop twice over and then pay me £30m".

Ross Edwards

With Moyes getting more frustrated over the Rooney saga, play them at their own game put a shitty £10 million bid in for Rooney. Unsettle the player... Okay, we know it would never come off but will make a point we are on the lookout for top players and intend to keep our best players unless the bid combined is closer to £50 million.
Peter Laing
436 Posted 08/08/2013 at 21:59:42
I'm with Tony Marsh on this, it would appear that Fellaini probably wants away and Baines stock is never going to be higher, that puts Everton in the driving seat. With the news that Fabregas has knocked back all advances to leave Barca, Fellaini becomes the plan B and Moyes still has the headache of Rooney to resolve. Screw Moyes and the Man Utd CEO to the deck, bidding starts at£40 million. Martinez will hopefully then be able to find a replacement for left back and a couple of quality ball playing Midfielders in the Carzola mould. Get the business done now.

"Moyes owes Everton nothing"

Dennis, according to ManU's apology to EFC. Moyes knew he had the job long before the end of the season and yet he played EFC and BK for fools (I'll make my mind up at the end of the season!).

He's a toe rag who leeched £70,000 per week of us and made himself an estimated £40 million.

So DM wants two of our better players for MUFC? Hardly speculation, haven't we all been saying as much since January? (And don't say that we didn't know that the affrontery and deceit had not started by then...)

So much for his words of respect for Everton. If LFC are prepared to issue a "not for sale at any price" warning regarding the bucktoothed nibbler, then Everton can do exactly the same for Bainsey and Felli (without the government health warnings).

If Baines doesn't want to move, leave him alone. If he put a transfer in, I would be disappointed but he owes the club nothing. I would still look for 15m plus. If he wants to stay, we say he staying and leave it at that. I can't see him or his agent getting shirty if we hold that line.

With Felliani, I don't think he's shown enough consistently to be a 20m plus player. I would hold out for at least 20m though, clause or not, and see what happens. Moyes and Wenger will start to get more desperate as the window goes on. No marque signings, no squad improvement, the pressure will be on.

Sorry if this has been stated in the previous 160 odd posts, I do not think the Mancs regard Baines or Fellaini as "marquee" signings - this is a problem for Moyes as if they have a jittery start which they may well then he is going to be quickly criticised.

If they keep Evra who is hugely popular at United then Baines is an odd signing as cannot keep both of them.

Fellaini has played exceptionally well against them, but who would he replace in the United midfield? Or would Moyes lob him upfront off Van Persie - I think not

With Rooney unhappy I reckon old Davey boy must be struggling about what to do next

So, it appears, if you can ever believe the press, that our old Messiah is about to turn Judas on us and come after our two biggest assets.

Like Jordan, we should do everything we can to protect them from his clutches (not that Jordan would mind you) – or, at the very least, get top dollar for them (er .. I’d better leave the analogy).

Look at how Spurs or Barcelona (and many other clubs) have treated the advances of Real and Man U for Bale and Fabregas respectively. They’ve said – “No”.

Or even United themselves with the Chelsea bids on Shrek.

Ok, we’re not as rich as many of these clubs and may have our pecuniary balls squeezed by some slimy banker stabbing a perfectly manicured finger nail into an Excel sheet headed “Ovrdraft”… BUT …. for quality players it is a seller’s market.

Look at how United’s bids rose from the initial 26 million to the current near 40 mil for Fabregas. How Real initiated their Bale bid at circa 50m and now it’s being bandied about at 100m.

The nearer we get to that deadline the more the Ginger guy is going to sweat (especially as he has made no big signings at all yet).

He’ll be desperate – and when he is we can get what these guys are truly worth (or even more).

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t want to lose either of them – especially to Mr Moyes and his new employers. If they actually do come in for Fella I would hope we could get at least 25m (at least). (Remember we’ll have to pay Liege a proportion of this, the taxman, the agent, etc).

Their offer for Bainsy was an out and out insult. It was arrogance beyond belief, like Marie Antoinette shoving some bread crumbs towards the starving paupers and thinking we’d doff our caps and say “Thanks ever so much”. To me, he is the best and most productive left back in Europe. His price should reflect this.

I think Fella probably wants to go - and, to be fair, I have no real issue with that. He’s a modern footballer with no real loyalty – except to money and fame (harsh?). I think (maybe naively) that Bainsy is loyal – and maybe the improved contract will be enough to curtail any departure. I desperately hope so.

Say what you like about Liverpool, but their stance on The Rat (at long long last) is showing some real cajones. (Whether is true or not is another matter...)

I just pray that likewise our Board show some real stomach – and make Manchester United (or whoever) pay through the back teeth – should the worst happen..

In this worst-case scenario, whilst we also would need to replace these guys (and I think their potential replacements are already identified) the clock is ticking and the pressure on Moyes is increasing.

Squeeze Bill … squeeze hard! Let's see the teardrops cascading from those demonic gingery lids.

No way we should sell them in a package deal....... manure wants Fellaini , fine negotiate for him alone . Once that deal is completed and he is gone .....only THEN will we start to talk about Baines ..... We don't need to act like the bargain basement here.....is Fellaini as good as the 30 mill Fabergas ? No ....BUT Davey is desperate here , he needs to bring in players , we don't need to sell.
I'd hold firm to the 23 million figure , even if Fellaini isn't worth that much.

My main worry is not how much money we get...it's how much of that does Roberto see..... BK " Oh look 50 mill for the pair.....here you go Roberto , you can have 5 mill to spend on the last day ....well pretend that we would have got Messi but the fax machine ran out of paper 10 min before the deadline "

Better still, swap them both for Rooney and give him £200k a week. They could sweeten it with £3.5M so we could get Diame to replace Fellaini. Oviedo is ready, and Distin or Garbutt can play there if he gets injured.

If Rooney still wants to go Chelsea next year, give him a £40M release clause. Everyone's a winner.

Thought occurred to me today.. If we do well for anything above 35m.. Especially 40m, we should go and buy back Finch Farm if possible. We moan about selling our assets.. Well lets get one back.. It would save out annual rental for what it's worth.

That would still leave 25 to 30m for investing in players... Everton as a business need to think further ahead than the next EPL season...

It's looking increasingly likely Man Utd are going to go with Fellaini (plab B or even C). I would like him to stay, but of the two I think he is the easiest to replace and the most likely to want to move. He has a set price which seems fair in today's market so I can't see why they don't just get on with it and activate the clause. If Man Utd get the deal done now I will accept it and look forward to seeing what players Martinez brings in. If they drag it out until the season starts I'm going to be one pissed off Toffee. Remember the Lescott saga. We certainly don't need a repetition of that sorry saga blighting Martinez's first season in charge. Come on Moyes/Man Utd. Either piss or get off the pot!

On TalkSport the other week, Stan Colymore did the exclusive about Everton. How much they were up for sale, how much debt, about Moyes. He stated that no club (including Everton with over £40 mill of debt) should still be in debt with each club getting £60 million this year with the new tv deal. Even the club that finishes bottom bets £57 million. Now I may be wrong but I would've thought that Mr Collymore knows how much each club should be getting.
Michael Kenrick

Callum, each club may be getting a total of £60m but that is an extra £20m over what they already receive, so the previous £40m is already spent on the normal running of the clubs.
