McCarthy is a huge risk with such a high fee we should be looking at top European midfielders who can score goals as well as making many assists.
McCarthy does not give value for money in my view in that he lacks goals and is unproven in a top club.

Ex-Wigan? Surely should be ex-Chelsea if he leaves. Anyway, I'd take him; we lack pace and it will give serious competion to Pienaar and Mirallas.

From what I've seen Pienaar has been a shadow of the player who left us for Spurs.
There is an old saying "never go back" and we should never have let him go in the first place and never should have resigned him.
As for Mirallas I really don't believe he is physically up to playing 90 minutes of premier league football

Pienaar not the same player he was and is unlikely to roll back the years so progression is key. This could be a good move, he seems to have the things we desperately lack i.e. Speed, Power, Arrogance & a shoot on sight attitude.

Sometimes having nicey nice all the time doesn't work. You very often need that pr**k factor to win games

We could definitely use a bit more cutting edge and movement in the final third although pace up top is only really useful if the ball gets up to them quickly allowing them to run at stretched defenses.

Why would Martinez need to take him on loan? As his former manager, he will already know exactly what he has to offer so he doesn't need to assess him.

We are taking about a £7/8 million signing. If the likes of Norwich and Southampton can use the extra income this year to back their managers at triple that amount, surely are pathetic board can stump up that much to allow Martinez to buy this lad?

Sky Sports are reporting that there is another bid under consideration for Bale. Tottenham are considering both. I'd say with certainty that is Man Utd and Baines is probably staying.

I agree Phil, but my point was that Moyes may have given up on Baines. Unless either Spurs are playing silly beggars to squeeze more out of Real, or unless United are trying force Baines to ask for a transfer perhaps. It's all a big game of poker as usual.

I tend to agree with you there, that Moses would be a good addition, whether it be a loan, or permanent. I don't know why it's always brought up about the Wigan connection, we would be dealing with Chelsea. If you cast your mind back, Moyes was trying to get him, when he was at Crystal Palace, and guess what he chose.
You also mention about Odjidja-Ofoe, I too, thought this guy would have been good, without breaking the transfer kitty. However, he too, was a Moyes target, so doubt Roberto would follow that one up, especially considering the events of the last few weeks!

I haven't really watched much if anything of Kone. Some people say he is a really poor player, and that's why he has struggled to start or maintain a starting birth each match. I have no idea, because I have never seen him, apart from the ocassional cameo here and there for Everton..certainly not long enough to really know if he is good enough or not.

Unfortunately the priority has to be on a couple of pacey midfielders...we need pace, simple as that..so if that means the end of Fellaini, so be it..for the better of the team.
