Could be an Arteta-esque loan as he is a cultured midfielder and at 25 still has some good years on the clock despite already having alot of experience around Europe.

I have been looking on the Wiki site about this guy, all they say is that he is a Centre Mid. but no mention whether it's Defensive or Attacking. If he's basically defensive, and he can come on a loan with a view to permanence if all works out, I wouldn't mind, according to reports, Roberto has stated, that he has not bid for James McCarthy.
Noticed also on Kuzmanovic, that he gets the occasional goal.

Derek, he can pick out a killer pass and can break up the play well. If Fellaini went he would be a good addition rather than a replacement... we would need another good DM in as well imo

He is mainly defensive midfielder, he is good, but had problems with injuries.

I don't know much about him to be honest, but I hope we don't buy McCarthy, especially at that price. He is not even worth half his reported price tag.

If Medel was around £8million, McCarthy should be at least worth £6million.

Have to disagree with you on that one Ross, re Medel is worth more than McCarthy, who imo is the best young midfielder to come out of Ireland since Roy Keane and will just get better and better. Fantastic football intelligence for such a young man, great awareness and positional sense and can play at bit. Always plays with his head up to, thinkin a few moves ahead everytime. If we got him for under 12m I would be overjoyed, as I think he is going right to the top, and would flourish in our team. Hope it happens.

I think if we are aiming for top 6 or higher, which probably won't happen, McCarthy is not worth blowing £15milllion on.

All Blues should know about this guy, he was a key part of the Fiorentina team that knocked us out of UEFA cup.

I said about 2 weeks back that we should have sorted out 2 additional CM then even if only on loan. We know that DG is injury prone and frankly he should have had the operation during close season, then Roberto would have had every reason to strengthen his squad there as a contingency

I agree with you Stuart. McCarthy has similar physical attributes to Barkley but, at this stage, he is far more accomplished and has greater awareness.

I have been very impressed with Ross so this season, McCarthy would be a great addition.

Chris, my impression was that he played his best games for VfB Stuttgart. However at the beginning of last season he got injured, then relationship with manager broke down and he signed for Inter. I don't know much about his Inter days, but he was once again injured in April-May.

What chance have we really got of competing at the top end of the table when we are getting outspent by the likes of Norwich and Southampton to name but a few?

A little part of me dies every time I see Naismith scuttling down the right side of midfield.

Norwich and Southampton had wages around the 40M mark... so under the Financial Fair Play rules they can spend up to 52M on wages this year.

We had over 52M (60M+?) so can only increase it by 4M unless we sell someone or somehow have a massive upturn in our commercial performance.

For once, I think Bill has an excuse. Maybe this was the day he was waiting for. TV money comes in and he's not allowed to spend it.
