Just been on a spurs forum to see the thoughts.. They are beside themselves.. They have probably had one of the best windows I can remember of anyone... And here we are... Wanting their scraps.

Looking at Spurs makes me feel a bit ill. Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli, Capoue, Eriksen, Chiriches, Lamela. Bale was seriously good but Levy has excelled himself in the handling of the whole thing and they now have a squad brimming with depth and quality. The good news is they should comfortably beat the RS to 4th place.

As for us we are now battling the likes of Swansea, West Ham, Aston Villa, Southampton etc for the remaining Europa places. BK has alot to answer for.

We need someone to score goals, so whatever cash we have needs to be used on a proven goalscorer

Spurs are also backed by a proper millionaire! Levy is good for them, drives a hard bargain and gets good players in, but he has the cash to go and do it. To be honest, how many people thought bale would turn out the way he has? He was very average in his first few seasons at spurs. If Barkley kicked on in the same manner we could be sat here in a similar situation in a couple of years time when he heads to barca for 90 million!

Are we truly to believe that a day or two before the transfer window closes, we are sending scouts to watch a player with (to put it kindly) a fairly low profile? Presumably our board are aware of the need to strengthen midfield, even if Fellaini stays, and it is difficult to believe that their target list would not be complete at this point, unless they are catastrophically incompetent.

Am also struggling to understand what this player has done to justify a multi million transfer fee. In addition to Villa passing on him, I believe he has also been considered and rejected by Sunderland, Palmermo and Bologna. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

Assuming our manager and directors know anything about him at all, and have seen something of interest, he might be worth a punt at £500k to add some cover in the squad, but that's about it.

I would love Holtby. Although I doubt Spurs will part with Defoe, and we won't go for him, given that we have Kone and Jelavic fighting for one sport. It also doesn't help our age issue at all, or our wages. Far too short term.

Holtby though, would make me extremely happy. And Kondogbia wouldnt have come to us anyway imo.

I don't see the point in getting someone in on loan from outside of the Premier League (or at least England), especially considering as it will likely take him until January to adjust to the pace of the game. There are plenty of other players to choose from (many listed above) who would surely make a more immediate impact.

Just watched the Leeds v QPR game. Joey Barton was very impressive. High energy, mobility, great in possession, tenacious in the tackle, great dead ball delivery. He certainly doesn't appear to be any sort of disruptive force in that team.
Yes there is history, but I still think he would be worth a punt based on his ability.

Sigurdsson would be great for us, I think he will be excellent if he gets some serious playing time this year which I can't see at spurs, problem being, even though he may be surplus to requirements, Levy will still want a profit on what they paid, oh to have a chairman like that.

What about a striker who scores goals, attacking mid would be good too, Vossen first and formost, young King at Leics will prove better quality than McCarthy and cheaper too, Holtby would be a good addition too, as real quallity is still so sadly lacking.

Sell our Manc pair, but Rooney must be part of the deal, or the whole transfer nightmare will prove worthless for us, as Booby M will no doubt go back to Wigan for more also-rans we'll pay way over the odds for.

We also need a leader, a grafter, a Scouser to boss our midfield and won't be intimidated. We need Barton to do that job; he's wasted in the Championship. The lad knows how to pick a pass and also has top delivery from set pieces and is a narky fuck as well.
