One player who I also think would be like Distin Harold is Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, but he'd be valued over £20 million probably.

Madrid will never sell Varane, Ross. Like Morata he's one for the future. Right now he's probably in the £30m bracket.

Agree with Harold, makes sense to start looking at bringing in younger players, Baines will be 29 in January and both the main defenders are over 30.

If he came to Everton, he would definitely get first team football which is important for an international player, especially with 2014 on the horizon.

£5million for a player of his potential is well under what his value would be.

The trouble with supposedly replacing Baines, is that we don't just have to replace a left sided defender, but actually we would also have to replace our major goal chance supply line.
The difficulty of ticking those 2 boxes is why the any price for Baines must be "obscenely high"
........ and even more reason as to why we need to hang on to him.

Baines is no longer our main supply line, I've been to a couple of home games this season and RM has him playing differently to the ginger twat in that not every single opportunity comes from a cross.

In fact I think you;ll find that Baines' crossing has been reduced this year compared to last as RM prefers a ball on the floor style of play, losing him would be a blow but he is no longer completely irreplaceable and I believe that RM has set the team up to play in a way that means that should LB jump ship to the theatre of knobs, we will be able to continue as we are pretty much unhindered.

A smart move by RM and it underlines the fact that he is planning for the future on a constant basis, also the attitude of th eplayers is so much better and the atmosphere at the home games now is almost electrifying at times, the gloom has lifted and whether LB stays or goes I think we have a bright future ahead of us.

Think it may cost more like £10-15m to get him but he does look like he could be just the type of player we need. I say go for him! (quickly)

Any player where it says can play in a number of positions Is a worry for me. It usually means unconvincing in that position so is moved around a bit.

How about the young Belgian, Toby Alderweireld?
