Martinez weighing up swoop for defensive prospect

Roberto Martinez is preparing a bid for 17-year-old Dundee United defender, John Souttar if the Daily Record is to be believed.

Everton's chief scout, Kevin Reeves, was apparently in attendance for United's clash with Celtic over the weekend and the report claims that Martinez is hoping to land the teenager with an improved £1m offer on the £600k bid that Sunderland had knocked back recently.

Queens Park Rangers also had a scout present in the 1-1 draw.

Kevin Reeves is supposedly very good at finding young talents at a cheap price, I hope we go after him. Sometimes you need to take a chance and since the price is not so high I would welcome the move.

Our future depends on doing great deals like this and that they do well for us. I know nothing about the player, but Martinez did find McCarthy at Hamilton so why not?

Young British lads is the way to go for our future, we can't keep buying so-called foriegn stars who only turn it on now & again. He could be a wise buy like — and he ain't played for Wigan!
