Interesting. Just read it before it popped up on TW and youd think that they might have a better understanding of what's going at MU than some of the nationals.

Sigh. More of this crap till he's sold in January, then a few months of Barkley rumours, especially if he makes the plane to Brazil.

As the other thread shows with Alan Ball, we've always been a selling club, albeit with different owners with different needs - greed (by simply cashing in even though the club didn't need to) or a desire to cling on.

So £20m. He's worth it, especially after they mugged us for the Fro! Get it done early. But we know they won't, last minute sale, followed by a last minute buy, no mention of the surplus from this summer, and the seals clap him on 2 February against Villa.

Fair play to the man, with Fellaini's money and this potential bonanza he's doing more now than he did for us his entire tenure.

Can't see this happening until next summer. Both Baines and Evra need match time to make sure they get to next years World Cup. Also, isn't Evra vice captain so he won't be happy sitting games out. Moyes surely won't spend nearly £50M on 2 ex-players to sit on the bench...?

If the £20m quote is correct for Baines to Man Utd then it must be sell, sell. sell. Next season's price will be less than half of the figure and it's obvious LB fancies a crack at Old Trafford.

I don't get the animosity or the bitterness regarding this proposed sale. All clubs in the EPL are selling clubs apart from maybe City and Chelsea. We are no different from all the rest. Buy and sell to survive. Keep top players for as long as possible. That is the game we are all in.

£15m-£20m will do fine but we'll certainly miss him. After the Germany game, one thing is certain. Baines, despite a drop in form, is better than Ashley Cole these days.

Will Oviedo replace him or does our new strategy demand a different kind of fullback? If so, with such an early warning, we should have someone lined up and ready to go.

If we can get £16m or more then I'd sell. He's not the same player this season, either due to the Man Utd link, pre-agreed sale to them, or because his interaction with Pienaar is on the wane. This sort of money for a 29-year-old is too good to turn down as it would buy us two good players who would be better suited to Roberto's game plan.

Just a thought but Baines has been pretty pants as of late, even for England. Either his head has gone or he's playing for a move to Manure. Let's for instance say that he won't sign a new contract, £20 million is pretty good.

I recall when Wenger sold Thierry Henry, people said he was loopy but the stats showed his form had dipped. Wenger was proven right. Not saying it's the same with Bainsey but like I said, just a thought.

£20 mil? Absolutely!! Thank you very much and goodbye. Only problem is Poacher Moyes is a Glaswegian tight wad who always thinks he's entitled to a discount. He was always looking for that non-existent little dream, the bargain player; the clever discovery no-one else knows about. Just as if everyone else is stupid. If he wants our Leighton, who is 29 shortly, then let him prove it by coughing up his commercial value.

Anyway, this is a boil on our arse that needs lancing. It seems to be affecting not only Leighton's form (dipped hasn't it?) but must have an effect upon the rest of the dressing room. It needs sorting ASAP.

I feel sorry for Leighton. This is a later-in-life (career) crisis for him. Should he stay or should he go? His agent and Moyes will be on his back to go. But he could have become one of our club's heros and gone down in Evertonian history as one of our best ever players. How much dosh does anyone need? Medals? We are points equal with United.

If he announced he was staying, could we forgive him now? It would be hard wouldn't it? We are Evertonians and we expect loyalty and then we give our love.

I still maintain and I'm probably way out of line but if Man Utd wants him EFC should set a crazy Gareth Bale number WELL in excess of the stated £20M.
