Its a mystery whats happened to Jelavic...looked as good as anyone around when he first signed. His one touch finish was sublime. We need to keep him though until another striker is signed.

I would tell them where to go after the business with Yakubu.

I'm all for giving players a chance, but I think Jelavic has had all the chances we can afford to give him. He's not going to start ahead of Lukaku and do we really want to be relying on him to take over next season? If we can get a sensible fee for him then it's probably in both parties interest to move on. I wish him all the best and I hope he rediscovers his form!

This is the time to be looking at how you can be setting up transfer deals in January. The club needs to decide which players are surplus to requirements and then let the players' agents do the work. Have deals in place for January 1st and then see what money we have to spend ourselves.

With Jelavic, I think he has Lukaku, Kone and Naismith ahead of him. He would seem one of the more obvious players to go. I will be interested to see how the rumour mill over the coming weeks mention him and Hetinga.

If this is true, it's good for all parties concerned. Good luck to the guy, and lets hope he manages to resurrect his career for his sake. We have not only Lukaku and Kone but promising youngsters coming along. They will be knocking on the door soon.

Up front he's a slow boat to nowhere but we've certainly missed him when defending set pieces.

He has looked blunt as can be up front but, with Koné suffering injury problem and Lukaku not ours to keep, we would be left with just Naismith and maybe Mirallas (neither specialist strikers) up front. Hopefully RM is lining up a long-term striker for us.

We need to ship out our deadwood in January... Jelavic, Naismith and Heitinga are simply not good enough. Hopefully we can get them off the wage bill and get a few million in transfer fees. Let's hope Martinez and his scouts have been working tirelessly identifying targets – a new striker and a central midfielder being priority.

Also, a new LB if or when Baines departs, Oviedo will need competition or cover depending on how well he performs.

If we could sell Jelavic and get Shane Long, I'd be happy. Other than that, he stays; I think Jelavic might start on Saturday. Lukaku was pretty gash (no pun intended) on Saturday. He needs to know his place isn't guaranteed.

Michael, making an offer for Shane Long might be pushing our luck after the way we screwed over WBA in the summer.

Michael I can guarantee you Jelavic won't start on Saturday. If Lukaku plays like he did last week and scores 2 we will win.

Don't want him to go, still haven't forgotten the class he had when he first arrived. If a chance fell to one person from our team in the box I'd still want it to be him. Would have put away a few of those ones last week thats for sure.

James, it isn't as if he hasn't had any chances to score in the last year. Jelavic's finishing has been woeful at best, add his poor first touch, lack of pace and his inability to stay on side, the first 6 months he was here, is just a distant memory. The fact is: he's had more than enough chances to show his worth and has failed. Weather its lack of confidence or he's plainly not good enough, I don't know. IF it is a confidence thing, then, he just doesn't have the strength of character.

Mark Frere, no way in the world Roberto is going to consider Naismith to be deadwood. He's been a hardworking contributor when he has played.

And regarding Baines, given the public comments by Martinez and Moyes in the last 24 hours, it's looking more likely that he's staying with us.
