More McGeady speculation

On a free? Sure.

Martinez has always wanted him and that's good enough for me. Another piece in the puzzle.

In my opinion, he is another Naismith type of player. Not good enough if we want to "push on" from our good start. We have Peanuts, Gerry, Kev who currently play wide and have Oviedo (when Baines fit), Coleman and Ozzie who could (and have in the past) do a job as well.

Is McGeady better than any of them?

Gary, unfortunately and realistically we will be without both Deulofeu and Lukaku at season's end. Plus, listening to Martinez it is doubtful if we will have either Kone or Gibson back this season. Neither Kone nor Gibson may completely recover at all!

Alcaraz is an unknown quantity and Jelavic's confidence is suspect.

Heitinga and Gueye are both non contributors and Naismith is pretty mediocre

We may be able to keep Barry and that probably depends on salary offered and term of contract. Don't forget he is thirty two years old !

Our squad is at present bolstered by loan players who have all done excellently but we must work wonders during the transfer window if we are able to sustain this seasons success and continue into next season.

All I have said is realistic and not negative. We need to unearth some more Barkley's and Stones plus do some very clever manouverings in January both win buys and loans.

That is why crowing over a win at United although laudable, should be taken for what it is.

Makes sense Pienaar doesn't look like he has the legs to play every week anymore to me. He was painfully slow and laboured against United.

James. Spot on. After his great performance in the previous match, he struggled throughout on Wednesday. McGeady would be the ideal replacement.

Sorry Gary. Naismith can't dribble, can't pass. This lad can. Martinez loves players who "open up the game by taking on opponents one-on-one". It's a dying art in todays world of robotic pass and move football and if we can get this lad it will definitely strengthen the squad.

The way I see it, whoever Martinez decideds to bring in will be fully supported by me as I have complete faith that it will be the right signing at the right time........

As both Harold & Andy say if Martinez Esq wants him, that's good enough for me also.

If reports are true, McGeady has been on Roberto's radar for quite a long time now, he must intend bringing him to Goodison.

McGeady is not a name that wets the lips but if Martinez thinks he can improve Everton's squad, then he can improve Everton's squad. Simple as that! In Roberto we trust.

I also think the same applies to the 3 Wigan players he brought in. No question marks over McCarthy now obviously. Kone and Alcaraz have just been very unfortunate with injury. Lets face it, Roberto would of had the pick of any single Wigan player he wanted (including the likes of Mcmanaman and Maloney).

Roberto has decided which of his former players are good enough for EFC. Those players are McCarthy Kone and Alcaraz. Fair enough we wont see Kone until next season but Martinez is no mug. These players would not be here if they couldn't do better than Wigan!

If he comes in on a free, then so be it. Can't really complain if we don't pay a transfer fee for him. This is then a signing with an eye on next season.

At least we're finally looking to sign players in Jan for a free in the summer. Good forward planning, cannot remember us doing that in the past. Our 'frees' seemed to be done in the summer, more often than not panic signings at the end of August.

Hopefully we can sort out Barry on a permanent contract before the end of the season as well, to avoid any other club sniffing around. If the wages can be sorted out, he could also sign a pre-contract in Jan, He still has at least another season in him, if not two.

A very good squad player. Versatile, industrious, skillful and eye for goal. Would fit in well with the Martinez ethos and link well with Coleman, Gibson, McCarthy et al. In Roberto we trust.

If Roberto wanted to sign Albert Tatlock I'd say give him the money.

I'm willing to give him a chance if Martinez thinks he is good enough. Its a shame we missed out on Keisuke Honda. I wonder if we will go back in for Fernando (if we were ever seriously in for him in the summer that is). The Barry-McCarthy partnership looks fantastic, but a bit of competition and cover would be a bonus with Gibson out. That said, £15m might be better spent on a striker, This poses an interesting question. Does Martinez hold money back until next summer hoping for CL qualification / Mourinho bust up and try and land Lukaku or does he spend money now on a striker? If, god forbid, Lukaku were to get injured we would be relying on Jelavic or Mirallas to do his job. Mirallas might do al-right, but I would like to see a quality striker in to push Romelu, act as cover and bed in ready for next season. A real conundrum for Martinez to fathom out!

Like McGeady, but check out Izet Hajrovic. 3 million pounds and 22 years old. I'd take the punt.

Martinez has been after McGeady ever since his Wigan days. He must see something in him that I can't... but I trust his judgement 100%.

I remember getting really excited after watching a similar video of Bilyaletdinov a few years back! If Martinez thinks he can add something to the squad then I'm more than willing to give him my support, especially if a deal can be done at a good price. It sounds like Martinez has been tracking him for some time now so he must think he can do a good job.

Regarding Billy. I wonder how he would have done if he had been given a run in the AMC psotion instead of being played on the wing. He did score a few goals for us when he got into central positions. I think he was a bit unlucky to be at Everton at a time when we had Cahill playing behind the striker.
