From what I heard earlier, Toronto's season ends before ours does and he was supposed to go back to Spurs until the summer. I would be surprised if he chose us rather than going through with a deal that had been tailored to his requirements.

Depends on availability of course, but I am hoping for a permanent deal for a young up and comer who we can further develop. Defoe would only be a stop-gap.

I thought Defoe is already in Toronto? Regardless, agree with Si on it being a stop-gap. We need a goalscorer but I don't think we're that desperate. Besides, Spurs would never sell us anyone cheap! Unless Toronto cuts him!

The report sounds fishy but ESPN only lifted their unveiling report off another. The whole first refusal thing makes it so complicated and iffy. Harry might have lost his magic touch but surely he's out of his mind to offer first refusal on someone who he wants off his wage bill.

Sorry to burst the Defoe bubble but unless Toronto wants to turn it into a profit which we don't want to suffer for, not happening. ESPN is generally accurate...

The Defoe transfer has been known about for months. Fee, salary, Defoe's discussions with Woy about whether he'd be jeapordising his spot in Brazil etc. Any stories about hijacking are made up.

Look at it from a mercenary point of view, if he's told his England squad role isn't at risk, who's gonna pay him the £90k/week with the bonuses etc. other than 'Arry at QPR (as long as he makes a cut on the fee)?

Our league position rivalry with spurs should be enough to convince anybody that "not a chance" would Defoe come to us.

Lacazette sounds like a cover story for keeping the papers (or la gazettes - haha see what I did there) off the Bafetemi Gomis free transfer story.

Steven - if he's Toronto's player, what has spurs got to do with it? As far as I'm concerned Defoe has wasted his career worrying about Spurs and this is his las chance to go out with a bang and actually get some game time.
