Roma link with Heitinga revived

AS Roma are again being linked with a move for John Heitinga whose search for a new club this month goes on after he knocked back West Ham.

Heitinga, who has made positive noises in the press about trying his hand in Serie A, felt that a switch to Upton Park with no guarantees of a permanent stay after 6 months was not the right move for him.

Now, reports claim that Roma could be ready to offer Heitinga an escape from Goodison Park following Nicolas Burdisso's transfer request.

He should apply for a council job, he'd do even less work than he's doing now! Oh, and he can go to work on a bike.

Agreed Jamie. It seems Roma makes most sense for all parties and of course, we get a bit more in the coffers. There is reasonable back up in that position as we are so no need for Rob to panic buy in January to replace him.

On another note. I certainly agree with many posters (including you Jamie) that Ken Jones is not remotely what we need re a replacement for Jelly. I read a comment on another feed that made a lot of sense:

If, as is highly likely we lose Lukaku at the end of the season, then splashing serious cash in January for a top striker (very few available) doesn't make sense. At the same time it leaves us short of talent up front if we have any real aspirations of finishing in the top 4.

Again I'll state that I think with McGeady in, Mirallas never was a winger and could do a job as a back up striker so saving the cash til the end of the season is likely to be the best of all the available options/ gambles as it stands right now. If the real assault on CL has to start next season then we'll just have to enjoy the ride for the rest of this one and see what we can do.

There is no doubt Lukaku is off at the end of the season. We need to identify a striker who can score goals. Another loan striker maybe?Start saving now!

Lets just hope his ego allows him to accept this offer. Headroom on the salary payroll is needed to give Coleman, Baines and Barkley pay rises.

The sooner he leaves the better. We need a striker in now Lukaku being here allows us to introduce the new boy gently as he will initially be back up and will find it easier to get intergrated. I just pray its not Kenwynne Jones he is Heskey like all the attributes to be awesome but is absolutely useless.
