Vellios to move on before the deadline?

If it's true he wouldn't go out on loan -- and the same rumor circulated last year under Moyes -- then he has written his own ticket home. And a healthy McAleny (which he apparently is) looks like a better prospect to me than Vellios ever did.

I think it is a big mistake to sell Vellios given that he has performed in the PL before.

If it is a loan I think it would be for the best for both parties.

I have absolutely no idea what the story is with Vellios. Is he simply happy / intent to sit out the rest of his contract (How long does he have left?) or is he hoping to resurrect his career with us?

I presume the lad has enough ability (seen briefly in a couple of appearances) to forge a reasonable career as a professional footballer, so why is he content to sit idle and create a reputation as a troublesome malcontent?

Other side to it is, why is he given a spot on the bench when there appears to be no intent to ever use him? What purpose does it serve unless it is simply to further reinforce the clubs displeasure (forcing him to attend even when he is not to be used) and possibly frustrate him into breaching his contract so that it can be terminated?

Sell him and end his misery. At his age, you would presume he just wants to play football. If we get a small return for him and also get him off the wage bill then fine. Use the money to tie up Green or some of the other starlets who may have a better future with the club on a better contract.

If you ain't good enough, you ain't good enough. He's been at the club long enough now for two managers to decide... he ain't good enough.

I had really high hopes for Vellios. In the few appearances he mead for us he did well and looked confident. I do think a loan move would be best for him. At his age he needs first team football to develop.

Shame really. His friends and family wear the new Everton kit but they never got a chance to see him play in it.

All he can do is sit on the bench and hope to be selected, how can anyone say he's happy to sit out his contract.

Whenever we previously brought Velious on he seemed to make an impact ie coming on at 1 nil down against Spurs and within a minute setting Jelavic up for the equaliser, then winning the game 2-1.

I would agree if he was shite and never had a decent game, but he always seemed to want to play and did on a number of occasions play well when he came on.

If the guy does not want to go out on loan so what, he's keen to do a job for Everton football club, who cares what his attitude is like, it's what he does on the pitch that matters.

He's been on the bench week in week out and not been used.

Is it to make an example of the guy to say take a hint, whatever it is I do not agree with what Everton are doing to the guy.

It's obvious he wants to play for Everton but unless he is used, the poor guy is just sat there, powerless to do anything.

I'm gutted for the lad and hopes someone snaps him up.

When you see the support Jelavic got and games he played, not once was Jelavic asked to go out on loan, yet for some reason Velios isublic enemy number one, not with the fans but the coaching staff and managing personnel.

Christ we were 3 nil up in the cup, why on earth he couldn't have thrown the guy on is baffling, why put the guy on the bench week in week out, just do not understand this one bit.

I met Vellios after the Norwich game along with a lot of the players, he signed my shirt and seemed nice, but I dared to ask the question, "Are you going on loan, Vellios?"

He looked a bit annoyed at me for asking that and said "Why?"

A little star struck and surprised at his answer, I just said "to go out and getting experience to get some playing time?" He didn't reply and didn't seem happy.

Oh well.. got 11 signatures on me shirt! and I must say how friendly Heitinga was, joked about going to Real or Barca in January — he just couldn't decide.

I think the clubs took the hump, because he wouldn't do what they suggested would be best for both parties, ie go on loan or ask for a transfer.

The lad would be better leaving, because he doesn't seem to have a future here. RM has brought Lukaku, Traoré and Koné in to play in his position, so it's pretty obvious he has little chance in the near future of playing first-team football.

We'd be better off putting him on the transfer list & see who fancies him playing for them.

Just a couple things. Brian Wilkinson said Velboy deserves better, Why? He is a 20-odd-year old millionaire who refused to go out on loan. That is what he could have done, Brian — what his Boss asked of him.

I don't feel sorry for Vellios; Ozzy went on loan at Derby, Ross went to Leeds and Sheff Wed, Garbutt went, Browning has gone, Bidwell went, Conor McAleny went: But Vellios.... he knows better.

I would be pulling up trees if I had the chance to prove my commitment and promise to a much-praised manager with a penchant for using youth and ergo cementing a well paid career at a club with huge history and an apparent upturn in fortune.

If The coaching staff have made him "public enemy number one" then it is going to be due to his attitude when they work with him, We the fans get to see a small fraction of the time the players spend at the club and If the attitude is not right off the field then for me, move them on.

Sorry, but look at Andy van der Meyde & Royston Drenthe for example...... it matters. Otherwise we end up with shitbags like Suarez wearing daft tee-shirts trying to support a rascist, or saying things like 'he didn't bite him THAT hard'. We are Everton. He should be prepared to stick matchsticks in Bobby Martinez's shit and eat it like a birthday cake to play for us.

Si, keeping him on the bench with the outside chance he'd get a game and perhaps have a future with us, is better than doing what Moyes did to Yakubu and freeze him out with not the slightest chance he'd ever play for us again.

The latter is a sure-fire way to reduce the price for one of the clubs assets.

Really kind of sabotaging his own career. If he'd been really interested in making it, then go out on loan and bang in a bunch of goals in order to demand an opportunity on his return.

Shame, had a little bit of promise (although not nearly as much as people suggest, he was ineffective just as often as he showed flashed of skill).

Doubt we'll get much for him, but seems pointless to keep him if he's not prepared to do what's necessary to develop his career with us.

Again Jelavic or hitingha were never asked to go out on loan,if the guy wants to fight for his place he should not be forced to go out on loan.

We stood by Jelavic for over a year, he got his chance, again why put the guy on the bench if there's a problem.

The fans were hoping Jelavic would come good, Velious has made an impact in games he's come on against, if he's not right for the club then leave him off the bench altogether.

Personally regardless whatever attitude he has, he has always gave his all when he played in the Everton shirt.

Apparently his attitude stinks; always out on the lash or flying back home every chance he gets. Rumour I last heard about him was he failed a drug test in August. Take with a pinch of salt obviously as we all know what rumours are like but still I wouldn't be surprised in this day and age...

If that is the case, Shaun, I'm just baffled why he makes the bench then, just cannot get my head round the guy taking a place on the bench from another player.

In regards to bad attitude, as long as the player does it on the pitch which he has then it's something we need to accept.

It's like Oasis manager saying sorry Liam and Noel, your attitude stinks so although you might make it on recording songs we are not going to record your hits.

In regards to failed drugs test going home etc, then why have the guy on the bench, it's stopping another squad member a place on the bench.

As an aside, when was the last time we had all our main strikers (i.e. that we own and play) with an accumulated goals scored for the club at a grand total of zero? Despite all the jiggery-pokery in the transfer in the market with loans etc. does that stark statistic not worry anyone? Zero goals. I can't remember that ever happening in my lifetime.

Point is, if he was told to go out on loan that should have told him he wasn't going to play.. What does that say about him, knowing he wasn't going to play and refusing to go on loan?

Again I will say Jelavic stank goodison out all last season but he got picked game after game, was Jelavic ever asked to go out on loan.

It tells me rather than give the lad a chance he would rather play an out of sorts striker.

I fully understand the part of going out on loan had we had strikers banging goals in week in week out but that was not the case.

If anything Jelavic should have been loaned out to a championship team to get his confidence back, and Velios should have been given a chance, he could not do any worse than a striker who simply was not scoring.

You only had to look at our bench last night at Anfield to see how we could have done with the lad on the bench.

With Lukaku injured we are now really banking on Traore with just Naismith as backup and Del Boy.
