Heitinga set for Fulham switch

John Heitinga is reportedly holding talks with Fulham over a proposed switch to Craven Cottage before the transfer deadline, possibly on loan.

Rene Muelensteen is looking at reinforcements after Aaron Hughes sealed a move to QPR and is eyeing Heitinga who is looking for regular first-team football.

Reports in the Netherlands suggest that Valencia have also emerged as potential suitors for the 30 year-old.

I think Heitinga would be good for Fulham, but would Fulham be good for him? They are desperate for defenders with key players like Hughes and Hangeland out and JH is desperate to get game time and produce impressive enough displays to get back into the Dutch World Cup squad. I wonder though if a move to a team that looks likely to be in the Championship next year is wise when the likes of Valencia and Galatasary are showing an interest. Whatever happens I think its the right time to leave Everton. Good luck to him!

Drew (#581) - Meulensteen is obviously on a mission to keep them up and seems to be bringing a few players in. I would say that was an ideal move for JH, especially as Meulensteen is a compatriot and generally highly regarded.

It is reported they are just taking over the remainder of his contract which means he can move on in the summer if it doesn't work out.
