Everton scouts continue to monitor Fernando

FC Porto have reportedly confirmed that representatives from Everton were in attendance to watch the Portuguese club's recent match with Napoli amid speculation that Roberto Martinez will go back for midfielder Fernando this summer.

The Spaniard tried to sign the Brazilian-born player last summer but a deal broke down on transfer deadline day, a fate suffered again by Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini on the final day of the January transfer window.

With Fernando, who now holds a Portuguese passport, a potential free agent this summer when his current Porto deal expires, Everton are expected to revisit their interest. They will likely face continued competition from City as well as from Juventus.

Really good news IF true?!!. The lad is a player and would be a great addition to the team.

Will City go back in for him, I don't know but if we could afford him wages wise then I'd really like us to sign him and he would add some real class to the centre of our midfield.

Wikipedia says he signed a new three year contract for FC Porto in Feb which takes him through until 2017?

Also, if we keep Barry and with Gibson on the way back to full fitness do we really want another defensive midfielder?

Fernando could be the missing link. We need a big, dominating MF player who can control the tempo of the game. With Gibbo back, and Barry going full time, we could have one of the best MF in the prem.

Add to that Garcia and Cuenca up front with Lukaku and wow. Really excited about next season.
