So some daily rag says Man Utd are in "advanced talks" with Everton to sign Seamus while Bobby M says the club are to offer a "new long term contract".

Everyone knows the Daily Mirror is the mouthpiece of Man Utd. They use this rag to destabilise rivals all the time.

So the Daily Manchester United, sorry Daily Mirror, are AGAIN trying to sell our players for us. Are we not allowed quality performers without the press attempting to flog them for us??

Then again, with BK still in charge of the gaff, anything is possible and the media know this.

I know that it is fashionable to make all that Moyes did at Everton seem bad but Karan Oza #820, to say that Moyes hardly played Coleman when he actually played an average of 33 games a season for us in Moyes's last 3 years (whilst also being out injured for around a month in each of these seasons) is stretching things a little don't you think?

Kieran...you are joking right? Moyes brought Coleman to this club for next to nothing, and helped turn him into one of the country's leading full backs. Give credit where credit is due.

So supposedly our club is already agreeing a deal to sell one of our best players with 10 games still to go. Does stuff like that actually happen?

Even if it wasn't potentially destabilising for the player, manager and team with so much still to play for, wouldn't it at least make far more sense to see whether a few clubs would bid each other up in the transfer window rather than assuming a 'closed shop' approach will get a premium offer?

Can any ITKs on how clubs do business enlighten me? Alternatively, can anyone explain how journalists who apparently lack common sense make a (presumably good) living?

These days I'd treat anything in the Mirror as likely to be the polar opposite of what will happen. I don't even believe the date on it anymore.

Everton's financial strategy under Bill Kenwright is to sell players to survive. That is widely known and it is why we won't see the Fellaini money, we never saw the Arteta money, and why we now entering a more dangerous period as we increase the number of loan players and so have fewer assets actually left to sell.

Papers may be making this stuff up but it is an educated guess because that is the way things have been at Everton and nothing is changing.

Until we have a new owner with a stronger financial strategy we will always face these pressure every transfer window. Seems that it has started early this year.

My eyes were opened to The Mirror (and all red tops) in 2004 when they flew the flag for Rooney to join United and then tried to cover us as the new Leeds United crisis club.

And Southampton aren't under pressure to sell Luke Shaw? The moment any club outside the clubs that can afford to lose money hand over fist get a half decent player there is immediate tabloid transfer speculation. It's a fact of life.

As far as I'm concerned, compared to Everton, Citeh, Manure, Chelski, and to a lesser extent the RS and Arsenal, are poorly run clubs. They lose massive amounts of money. They spend millions on players who almost never play, Rodwell anyone? And they overpay for those that do. They pay obscenely OTT wages. All they do is hoard players to stop anyone else getting them. If it wasn't for their moneybags owners they would be bankrupt. They have corrupted any chance of a sensible transfer market, especially when it comes to English-born players,

Until there are real sanctions on clubs that willfully run at a massive loss but continue to add more and more players to their already bloated squads, then this kind of speculation will continue every time we or clubs like us, get a reasonably decent player.

At least clubs like Everton try to live within their means even if it means from time to time we have to sell our better players to do it.

Frank, I think you will find that Arsenal is one of the best run clubs in the country, working on an excellent profit year on year, with a stadium generating money excellently, and a youth setup that feeds the team well, as well as making saleable assets without breaking part of the team unless they receive a ridiculous amount of money, à la Fabregas or Van Persie.

Arsenal haven't won anything in years. Their fans were outraged when they sold Fabregas and Van Persie not to mention Nasri and Clichy. Just like us when we sell our better players.

So why is a club that allegedly makes an excellent profit selling their best players to their nearest rivals? Maybe the reason they make such profits is precisely because they keep selling their top players for exorbitant transfer fees.

Frank, Saints sold Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bale as they had to. The fans understood that at the time.

If they sold Shaw and Lallana this summer, I'm sure questions will be asked.

This is probably a paper looking for a bigger story about how our fans react when Utd come visiting. They are just shit stirring so they can lay the boot in to either us (for being disrespectful to Moyes), or to Moyes (if he is (more) disrespectful to us). Wasn't this the paper that ran a full back page story reckoning Moyes called our fans 'a f*****g disgrace' after a tweet from some nobody when we beat them at theirs...and managed to pretty much ignore our great result and performance that night.
Anyway with the new Chang deal I feel we are financially ahem secure and I am sure the Coleman contract has been ringfenced!
