Deulofeu set for second loan spell at Everton?

Good news a great prospect, frustrating at times but on his day likely to unlock any defence.
Let's hope he signs Barry too.
If Lukaku doesn't then go for Bony.
I read he wants Traore on loan for next season. I hope it will be a fit Traore also.
We have 8/9 out injured at the moment, so if they get fit and some new signings come along, plus a few youth prospects come up I think we will have a powerful squad next season.

He needs to learn from Messi that you need to pass the ball before you hit another dead end. Instead of just continually going it alone. He needs a lot more game time.

I hope we can get him. Next season he will be better if he is growing at the rate a young Barca player is expected to. By better I mean his decision making and vision would of hopefully improved. He did look very good for a couple of games but then dropped back down a little to losing the ball too often.

Thankfully we have a manager who seems to be totally respected by Barcelona - what other rabbits will be pulled out of our Spanish Magicians hat?

But, joking aside, this would be excellent news. Yes, he needs to improve his decision making, but he's 19, and I genuinely think that we have the most exciting talent to grace Goodison for a long time.

Will be decent to have for the European competition we will be in (hopefully CL), but he needs to step up again. Barca will want to see an even bigger improvement from him next year if he is to have a chance with them. I hope if this does happen, then he is with the team from day 1 of pre-season. Still got a lot to learn.

Still got a lot to learn, but I would enjoy watching him do so for a season, getting his bollockings from Seamus and, hopefully, Barry. I think he will learn quickly, and will become a very, very good player.

Good news if it comes to pass ! The lad does need further grooming and the experience to be able to pick a colleague when he is in a good position. He has dribbling ability plus pace and he just needs a bit of fine tuning.

Lets hope that Martinez can attract a couple more of the same ilk as he does have the charisma and eloquence to attract young future stars.
He will definitely give them game time.

Having experienced what he has this season, can only see him being better next.

Eugene is spot on. Always looking to try something and never gives up. The lad will be a star and he is only going to get better next year so overall a good buy. If we could sort out deals for him and Traore it would give us a good platform for the rest of the transfer window

Just think in a few years time we can say, "he learnt his trade at the School of Science". This kid, if he keeps his feet on the ground, is going to be immense. He reminds me of a young Cruyff.

The only downside here is when he is cup-tied to play against Barcelona in a CL semi next season! Ah well...

This would be great news if true and a top start to summer transfer activity. I don't want to kickstart the loans vs owns discussion again here, but even if he spends another year as primarily an impact option from the bench and cover for our 'owned' wide players Mirallas, McGeady, Pienaar & Oviedo it'll be a helluva move.

I'm not dead set against Traore staying on either (and think this is pretty nailed on as it's the only sensible explanation he's still with us), but this is more based on Martinez's faith in the lad than anything I've seen. To be fair I actually think with our recent record of having hitmen who forget where the net is after a year (e.g. Jelly, Yakubu, Johnson), renting strikers might be better than buying them.

In fact, I'd probably rather loan a Lukaku-type and get a younger/cheaper prospect in full time than spunk most of the transfer cash on one player who could lose his confidence/fitness/marbles.

Assuming we do sign/loan a Lukaku/Bony/Remy type then with Kone back in, Traore on again, Naismith seeming to get better each season and hopefully McAleny given a shot you'd think we'd have a decent front line to chose from.

Plus, I just wish he'd cut in to use his left foot sometimes. That is my only criticism.

Love watching this lad play.

Love this lad. Frustrating at times but a real counter attack weapon. Moves like a bullet.

Another thing I like about him is his attitude. His love of the game and his joy when we score. Even when he's sitting on the bench, he bobs up and down, mentally kicking and heading every ball. So unlike Barkley who sits sulking throughout and looks sick as a parrot when we smash one in.

A very worthwhile coup if it can be achieved and will get right up Martin Samuels and all the other RS loving 'meejah' pundits noses which in itself is a good thng.

He's only going to get better and I'm sure he is learning how to be a team player at Everton. Sometimes a bit of single minded determination and flair can make the difference as Barkley showed against Newcastle, but both need to improve their decision making. Thankfully Martinez will give them enough leeway to develop.

I really hope this comes off because this lad has the X-factor that terrorizes opposition defences.

That is the most exciting group of young players in the Premier League, add to that the leadership of a dashing matidor maestro in Martinez, with the ability to bring a bull to its knees... I am so fucking excited for next season, regardless of what happens in next three games.

Robbie - 547 - you can add the terrific Oviedo to that list, he is only a youngster.

I recognise some of the caveats posted here about Gerard but for me, he is my type of player. He has enthusiasm; speed; tenacity and skill in spades. OK he makes errors of judgement but that last bit will come with experience and the coaching of RM. If he is here next season, that would be one terrific signing.

As for Traore - well er - hmmmm. Not for me I'm afraid - but you can't win 'em all.

We do have a larger group although of that we only own 4 and Seamus is no kid anymore... not being negative, but sometimes we can underplay how tough it will be. I think I'm going to write an article on broken hopes .. wow that sounds line a positive read.. very unRM. Maybe leave it for another season.

Deulofeu for me has done nothing since Christmas. Just because he’s from Barcelona, there seems to be a "we should be grateful" attitude whenever he’s mentioned?? I understand his injury set him back a bit but I think he needs to show in these remaining games that, in Mirallas’s absence, he’s not just a show-pony in the final third!!

Will his presence next season stunt the development of McGeady, a player we have actually spent money on and pay his full wage?? I don’t think Martinez trusts him in the defensive aspects of the team and just uses him if we’re chasing the game.

My attitude would be: "You show us you’re developing before you earn another season here!" — Not the other way around.

I was told of this last week. A friend of my step son met Gerard last week and he told him he was staying next year. Great news.

What impresses me about him (and this also applies to Lukaku) is that despite his obvious outstanding ability and potential etc he seems very well grounded and seems to have really bought into the Everton Ethos and History etc. I know sometimes players seem to say things and behave in a manner that they think they ought to but he and Lukaku seem to be genuine in their behaviour and comments regarding their our club and their time here.
I think we are lucky in that DM brought to the club so many players who have bought into our great club and Roberto seems to be carrying on this philosophy.

After today's performance, I think we should let Barcelona have him back. An average fullback beat him hands down today.

Looks like a world class player one day and a waste of space another. It must be remembered that he is only 20 and is playing his first season of first team football and is also playing in a new country. This lad has a very bright career ahead of him and if he stays on for another season I can see him improving significantly.

Need's to improve his consistency next year as Drew says above looks class one week pants the next. Well worth a squad place next year though especially if he get's his head up and pick's the right passes.
