During the discussion, Alan Brazil was fairly clear. He said that he'd heard from City friends about a deal being imminent and he quoted the investment coming from Abu Dhabi.

We'll have to wait and see, of course, but it's about bloody time the Gods shone on us. Otherwise, it's coats down in Stanley Park.

I'm getting on and I love the Old Lady and every good and bad time that I have had there. Abu Dhabi doesnt make a lot of sense. Cant be official as Mansour heads up the Emirates investment arm...sure the FA would have something to say about conflict of interest there.

Then we have FFP. Another sheikh of araby cant just pour in funds for players now, like Mansour did with City, and there's no way the current 'suspected' stadium plans provide the revenue hike to support a doubling of the wage bill.

The arabs haven't shown that much interest in buying stadiums so far...an iconic one on a world famous port city skyline might be enough to change that...perhaps even a sympathetic redesign of a historic, enduring, symbol of a ground might interest them. A modern flat-pack rinse-and-repeat stadium stuck a bit of a way back out of town doesnt seem to shout out a message favourable to an outfit looking to raise their profile on the back of the EFC ascendancy.

Not many dots joining up on this at face value.

Brazil was a great player when at Ipswich. He was skillful and creative, not your typical big target man type like Andy Gray. He then did a big money move to Man U and was never the same again - it happened all the time to Man U in those days. They would buy the best players on the market and turn them into journeymen.
