Seeking out a Forrest among the Scots Pines

Surely, Everton's first priority is to obtain the services of a proven goal scorer, who can score at least 20 goals per season. There have been too many games this season and last, when Everton have dropped points, especially, away from home, because no-one could put the ball in the back of the net.

I reckon £7 million is too much for Forrest as he is untested at any decent level. Celtic win by just turning up and the Scottish national team is really quite poor compared to the players they turned out years ago.

I would rather use the money we have on 'proven' players in Spain or other places with decent credentials. But if Roberto see's him as being worth the money then so be it!!

Bony just put his name out there in the press, which is good for us if we can't get Lukaku permanently.

Trevor, you may be correct in saying the SPL isn't a decent level....the SPL has the tendency to make me yawn but this lad, Forrest is definitely worth a watch. Would be a top signing IMO. At 22 years old, he has all his best years ahead of him. For all of Forrest's outstanding talent, I think his most impressive attribute is his work-rate....he will gladly do the ugly part of the game as well as scare the hell out of opponents with his pace and dribbling skills.

I hope this rumour has some substance.

Steavey, what if we can't afford a proven 20 goal a season (at least) striker? Maybe better / more consistent service could help us turn a 10-15 goal a season striker into one!

Si. All the top teams in recent times always had proven goal scorers. Manu won the league last season by a canter, because SAF bought RVP from Arsenal; while Arsenal struggled last season as again with this one, because there is no one to just put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis. And is not surprising, Arsenal struggle when Ramsey is not playing with the amount of goals he weighs in from midfield.

Anyone know about Robertson? Wikipedia says he's a left back which is absolutely dead last in our list of positions we need to sign players in. Maybe he's more of a centre-back who plays left back because he's young like Stones?

I get your drift Steavey, but that doesn't change the fact we may not be able to afford an RVP.

If we can't find one in our price range (ie, young and unproven) who will blossom in our team, then you need some alternative and getting the most out of what you can afford or spreading the goals around comes under that heading.

This Forrest lad may score some goals himself as well as setting them up for others to finish, making him a worthwhile addition to the team in his own right. I don't think you necessarily have to stop work on all parts of the team unless it actively stops you working on the priorities.

It has always been the same, your team have their backs against the wall, but all of a sudden and out of nothing, your striker scores a goal from nowhere. If Everton had such a player this season, Everton would now be talked out about winning the league.

If that £7 million stops us from getting a top striker then I am against it! If we have enough money for both then go for it!!

I want to see players coming to the club who can improve us, not just fill slots on the bench.

We should have £30 mill available after the profits made and the extra SKY money plus any revenue European football brings in. Anything less would be disappointing in my view. If Roberto can buy two decent players and loan in a few then that should ensure an exciting season to come.

We need lots of things; we can afford less. So I see no point in discussing buying players for such cash.

We're not a team that can spend £20-£25M on proven top quality players. We're a team that needs to take unproven talent and develop it.

Lukaku has been good this season, but we can get someone as good for far less.

After all we have one very similar in McGeady both in style of play and the inconsistency of his play, although in all fairness to Aiden, he has only really had bit part roles thus far!
