Black trim and socks for 2014-15 home kit

It's nice and I'd buy it. New crest/badge looks well. If I was to change anything, I would put more blue in the socks. Maybe blue and black hoops. I think vee-neck shirts fit better too; round neck can be loose sometimes.

White socks only — we are not Ipswich or Rangers.

I agree with Lakovos, with a black collor that would a thing of beauty! My favourite ever kitwas the 'Kancheslkis' 95 kit.

What about grass green coloured socks & boots so the officials cant see when we commit a foul.

The socks should be black and blue striped, like in '95. That was a hell of a kit. I think we looked hard in it for some reason, it added to the 'Dogs of War' title. This kit looks meaner, harder than the predominantly white one we have worn this season. I love it to be honest.

I like the black trimmings but would prefer white socks with a black trim. Black has historically been part of our kit going back a few years.

Still, it's an improvement on this season's shirt for me.

I'm with you on the white collar but I think the times where we can have the same traditional kit for a couple of years are sadly gone due to the marketing guys, revenues and so on. Hence those pink / black and pink monstrosities for away kits not so long ago.

Trying to lure in the youngsters is hard enough for Everton, and dumping Nike for Umbro........sigh.

When I suggested this a few years back someone said the PL probably wouldn't allow it as it's a different competition or..something, but they allow all those CL stars.

We should at least give it a go and even if the team can't wear them, no reason supporters can't.

I'm more than proud of our history and achievements but am getting tired of looking back when it comes to kit inspiration. Look forward, something to define our current trajectory while adhering to some basic tenets of the club and fan preferences. Seems as though home kit should be blue top, white shorts and socks and a historical nod to the black watch with salmon sash for away would be a starting point. I sometimes wonder how much input the club ever gives or if it's purely dictated by a marketing group affiliated with kitbag/manufacturer. It matters little in reality but some efforts are poor.

Just picking up Lakovos' suggestion on the stripes which was rejected by a few on the grounds that we are Everton, not Sheffield Wednesday, here is what ToffeeWeb the Everton History part II has to say about our historical colours:

"Everton had several kits and nicknames during the first decades. The original blue and white stripes were soon transformed to a mess when the new players wore their old team's shirts. Soon it was decided in the name of uniformity, that the shirts would be colored black, to save expenses!"

I hope this kit will mean that instead of wearing all blue on occasion we will instead wear black shorts on such occasions.

Rubbish, looks like a cheap Umbro tede-shirt with our badge on it. I like the black trim, but surely someone could have used a little more imagination with the actual design!

Got to say it I feel like we jumped the gun with new/old badge I'm not saying keep this piss poor one we've got now but looking at that image my first thought is 'antwacky'.

I don't think the selections at the time we're up to much and feel like the one we had before the 1878 one was much better. Why is it with efc it always feels like one step forward two steps back, had to laugh at the school of science flag debacle on Saturday they sent it across the upper bullens on its side then too low in the centre of pitch, why does everything organised by the club have that small club, not much effort, not much time on the cheap feel? Embarrasing!

Yeah Dennis but when I think of the great images of Evertons history, Ball, Latchford, the 85 team, even more recently the Duncans and Cahills its nearly always in blue white and white, whats black got to do with Everton?

There is precedent for black socks and black trim, but you have to go all the way back to the '20s and '30s to find it. Umbro gave us black and blue hooped sock 1995 thru 1997.

I personally prefer blue top. white shorts, and I grown to like white socks with a flash of blue. That being said, the blue black kit does look sharp, I'm just not sure it's Everton's kit.

We've worn blue socks and white socks and blue and white socks, Ball and Young have worn both...but black, sorry but black is not the new blue... or white.

Black? stinks of marketing gimmick / change for change sake... but then again if it's 'new' some people will buy it.

I do believe Everton were originally named "The Black Watch"... Because we used to play in all black, with a pink sash. The black trim and socks are great. It's a boss kit.... I've always thought our away kit should be the old-school all black with a pink sash.

One of our earliest shirts was black with a (wait for it) red sash so incorporating black is great if you ask me. Remember we were known as the black watch once upon a time as well so this makes some sense.

Best kit since the one with the orange collar, possibly better. The only thing that could improve it is "EFC" on the socks and possibly a black collar.

Simple, understated, classy...all works for me. Will people know we are Everton in that strip with the new badge...answer is an undeniable yes...black socks or not.

Vowed I wouldn't buy this years owing to the badge and, to be honest, the white hoops on the sleeve never grew on me. I'd buy something like this though.

Dennis, whatever kit we wore 120 years ago is irrelevant to our home kit now. We wear blue and white with white socks (sometimes blue) however 70% of ToffeeWebers said they prefer white (myself included).

Yeah, we wore all-black with a pink sash in 1892 but we also played at Anfield too in that kit!

If you want to go all 19th Century, why don't see if Liverpool will let us move back in!

After last seasons fiasco you would have thoght that a more classic combo would have been the answer. Black sock for gods sake. The board could not possibly sanction it.

At least it is only the colour of the socks we are arguing over, imagine if Umbro had said they were doing a modern version of the kit we wore from 1891-1895!
