Blues linked with Portuguese duo

The regular appearance of Everton scouts at the games of top Portuguese clubs is leading to plenty of speculation about the players Roberto Martinez may have instructed his eyes on the Iberian peninsula to watch closely.

Porto midfielder Fernando, who came very close to signing for the Blues before last August's transfer deadline ̵ Martinez went as far as to attend a work permit hearing for the defensive midfielder – and was also on the verge of joining Manchester City in January, is again being linked with a move to Goodison.

Meanwhile, Benfica's talented young attacking midfielder André Gomes is being mentioned by the Daily Star as a potential target.

Fernando signed a new 3 year contract in February when his move to City fell through. I know contracts are worthless but it would be a strange step if he were angling for a move.

I think this is going to be an exciting summer. Along with Lukaku I think Roberto will go for very skillful and quick players who will tear opponents apart.

Scouting Fernando is a complete waste of time. There is not a chance of him coming here. Not a chance.

Think Martinez needs to remember Our Last Summer and have a chat with Bill and tell him that "I have a Dream Bill. One of Us would like to Take A Chance on Fernando if you and the board will Gimme, Gimme, Gimme the Money, Money, Money. Remember that when it comes to the transfer market, The Winner Takes it All" and that improving the team is the Name of the Game. Let's hope Bill says I Do, I Do, I Do otherwise it might be So Long from Martinez and the board might be Under Attack from the fans.
