Everton make Rômulo enquiry

Everton have made an approach for versatile Brazilian-born player Rômulo according to an Italian source.

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeiri tweeted today that the Blues are interested in Rômulo, who can play in midfield or at right back.

He suggests that Everton have contacted Verona but the 27 year-old is actually contracted to Fiorentina whom he joined in 2011 before spending last season on loan with Verona where he made 32 appearances and scored 6 goals.

The Italian international is believed to be available for around £3m.

I always worry when I hear of a player who plays in a certain position but "can also play" in another. Phil Neville in midfield is something I will never ever get over.

Thankfully I believe the days of buying players to cover a number of positions are over.

I don't mind having versatile players as long as they're decent in both positions.

Romulo has been playing for Verona in DCM and as done that well this season; he got called up to the 30-man provisional squad for Italy but in the end missed the cut. But no shame in that when there's the likes of Pirlo, De Rossi, Marchisio, Verratti & Montolivo ahead of him, although Montolivo has been ruled out.

These rumours are getting very tiresome - don't know why I even bother reading them to be honest.

Just another player in a long list that we are/will be linked with for the next 3 months.

He's on Twitter and does have good contacts with regards to Italian football and doesn't just post crap.
