Martinez eyeing Amalfitano to fill Barkley void
Everton are being linked with a move for Marseille midfielder, Morgan Amalfitano in the wake of Ross Barkley's knee injury.
The 29 year-old, who spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, is apparently surplus to requirements at the Ligue 1 club and could be available on loan or for a cut-price £2m.
West Ham, QPR and Hull City are also said to be interested in the midfielder.
Meanwhile, an unlikely rumour has surfaced on Twitter (consider the source!) that Roberto Martinez might consider a player-plus-cash exchange deal involving Darron Gibson and QPR striker Loic Remy.
And The Express continue to link the Blues with an even more unlikely move for Benjamin Stambouli, Montpellier's £12m-rated defensive midfielder.
Finally Everton's name is being mentioned in reports that Barcelona will consider letting Alex Song leave the Nou Camp this month, either on loan or on a free transfer.
