Bremen keen to fend off Everton interest in Vestergaard

The Chief Executive of Werder Bremen says that the Bundesliga club has no plans to sell defender Jannik Vestergaard following a report in Germany that Everton are after him.

Bild claimed this week that Roberto Martinez has his eye on the 22 year-old Dane and is plotting a €10m bid but Vestergaard has only recently arrived at the Weserstadion and Bremen will likely resist the temptation to cash in on their €2.5m investment from Hoffenheim just 6 months ago.

"Jannik is an interesting player for England, but I am not interested in that," Thomas Eichin told Bild. "We did not buy him only to immediately sell him again."
