Blues scouts active in Belgium
Reports from Belgium claim that Everton have sent representatives to a number of Jupiler Pro League games in recent weeks, including Anderlecht where Stefen Defour is a reputed target. The midfielder was tipped for stardom in his early twenties after rising to prominence at Standard Liege and, after being heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, he joined FC Porto in 2011.
Three seasons and 65 appearances in Portugal later he returned to his native Belgium and signed for Anderlecht for €6m. He was a member of the Red Devils' squad at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil but made just one appearance.
Now he is again the subject of speculation suggesting he could finally move to the Premier League with his name coming up in the reports about Everton representatives taking in the recent match between Anderlecht and league leaders Club Brugge.
Scouts from Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen and Marseille were also said to be in attendance but there were other potential targets on show in the clash between the top two teams in the form of goalkeeper Mat Ryan, striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and Youri Tielemans.
Everton have also been mentioned along with Manchester United in connection with Brugge's 19 year-old striker Obbi Oulare who has broken into their first team this season with two goals in 11 appearances.
