Deeney is latest striker to be linked

18/06/2015  Comments (0)  jump
A report claims that Roberto Martinez is "hoping to rival" (whatever that means) Newcastle United for Troy Deeney, the Watford striker who scored 21 goals to help fire the Hornets into the Premier League last season.

The Mirror suggest that Newcastle want to partner him with Charlie Austin whose club QPR went in the opposite direction last month but could face competition from Everton.

Roberto Martinez has indicated that he is not looking for another striker this summer and, in any case Watford's reputed 20m asking price for Deeney would make it a non-starter.
