Long being courted by Burnley and Blackburn

Everton striker Chris Long could be set for a move to Burnley this summer, perhaps on a permanent basis.

The 20-year-old prospect who spent last season on loan at Brentford, was expected to be one of the young players pushing for greater involvement in the senior setup this season but his absence from the Singapore trip and the list of squad numbers released today has raised questions about his future with the Blues.

Along with the likes of Luke Garbutt, Gethin Jones, Courtney Duffus and Matthew Pennington, Long was offered a new contract last month but there has been confirmation from the club that he has elected to extend his contract which was up at the end of last season.

Rumours now suggest that he is on the verge of making the short move to Turf Moor while the Daily Mail suggest Blackburn Rovers are keen to sign him, a suggestion that has subsequently been played down.

The Mail report claims that the Blues would prefer to keep him and farm him out on loan but that Long is looking for a new full-time home.
