Irish duo could be loaned out

06/01/2016  0 Comment  [Jump to last]
Aiden McGeady and Darron Gibson, two of Everton's fringe players, will be made available for loan in the current transfer window according to a report in the Liverpool Echo.

Roberto Martinez hinted in a press conference yesterday that the club would need to make "a couple of decisions" regarding players who need game time ahead of Euro2016 but aren't part of the first-team picture at Goodison Park.

Having indicated that Kevin Mirallas remains an important member of his squad for the second half of the season, that leaves McGeady and Gibson but if neither can find clubs willing or able to buy them outright, the Echo suggest that they could be sent out on loan.

Their report claims that a number of Championship clubs have expressed an interest in loaning McGeady – the winger would prefer to stay in the Premier League or return to Scotland but his wages would prove problematic – while Gibson is apparently attracting attention from reegation-threatened Aston Villa.
