West Ham beat Everton to Byram

18/01/2016  0 Comment  [Jump to last]
Everton's hopes of unveiling Sam Byram as their latest signing could have been scuppered by late interest from West Ham if a report out of London is true.

London24 are carrying an "exclusive" claim that the 22-year-old has opted for the guarantee of first-team football at Upton Park and will join the Hammers in a 3.5m deal this week.

Byram is believed to have agreed personal terms with Everton yesterday and passed a medical at Finch Farm but returned to Leeds to train while he considered his options.

The Express and Sky Sports both report that the Essex-born player is still weighing up the merits of the two moves, with Roberto Martinez's track record of developing young talent on the one hand and the prospect of going straight into Slaven Bilic's team on the other.
