Joe Royle and Marc Overmars are being considered for a director of football role at Everton according to a report by MailOnline.

Royle, the current head of youth development at Finch Farm, has already been linked with the position since reports first surfaced that the Blues were considering a shake-up in the club's team management structure but Overmars's name is a new one.

The Dutchman has been influential in turning around Ajax's fortunes in recent seasons, overseeing their recruitment and youth development in trying financial circumstances that have forced the former European giants to sell their best players to bigger leagues.

Overmars enjoyed a highly successful spell with Arsenal as a player and knows the English Premier league well.

The 43-year-old's link will heighten speculation linking his compatriot Frank de Boer with the Goodison Park managerial role as he leaves Ajax this month after six years in charge.
