Rabiot 'in talks' with Everton as he prepares PSG exit

| Sunday, 02 June 2019 28comments  |  Jump to last
Adrien Rabiot is said by a report in France to be in "active talks" with Everton and Manchester United

The French international midfielder is out of contract this summer and has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford, with The Mirror reporting that the Red Devils are willing to pay him £170,000 a week.

Get France Football News have tweeted that according to TF1, the Blues are also in negotiations with the 24-year-old's representatives.

Rabiot, who has been capped six times by France, has been with Paris Saint-Germain for the past seven years but once spent a few months at Manchester City's youth setup.

He has been considered by Barcelona and was rumoured to have rejected Tottenham as "too small" in recent months so it is likely that he is seeking another Champions League-level move which neither Everton nor United can offer him this coming season.

Curious link. Rabiot is a very good player (an upgrade on Gomes I’d say) and a very complete midfielder who could add something to any team in the world on form. He reportedly demanded too high a wages from Barcelona and opted against a pre contract with Spurs as they were too small a club. So seems very unlikely that he’d have his heart set on Everton! But if somehow there was truth in the probable transfer rubbish then he’d be a very exciting addition.

Well rumour has it he wants to play for the rs.
And if Utd have offered him £170k a week I couldn't see him coming to us because I doubt he'd get the same offer here.

Not sure about that, Brian, as it was rumoured that Bernard was paid 10M to come to Everton and that might just be the clincher.

He’s never coming here. All about getting a solid wage offering from Everton who they know have money.
We’ve got players in the bench on £100k a week so I imagine he’ll be after double that at least. Then Utd will have to outbid us and if it’s only us and them then they’ll do it because they’re not the most attractive package to top players themselves at the moment.

The worrying thing is that to get better then we have to buy better than we already have and that may be impossible. For clubs like Everton there is a glass ceiling through which we can't get higher players. The players we need want European Football and high wages. Do we need any more reason to give game time to our home developed players or take massive risks on the lower priced players that we can buy? I think Gomes is above the glass ceiling for us for some reason, probably because he hasn't signed yet.

Undoubtedly a decent player but with him being effectively a 'free agent' a signing on fee and inflated wages, similar to the Bernard deal, is what a lot of these mercenaries are going for these days.

While he could be a valuable player on the pitch, his reported wages could lead to dressing room unrest, and we don't want that, look at United recently.

I think if we have £170,000 a week to spend on one player it should be on a striker. Mr Brands has a busy summer ahead.

Excellent player, dubious character. His mother / agent also seems to be a nutcase. If he came in and did very well, then I’d expect him to be demanding a move to bigger club.

He seems to be in it for the money, PSG refused to play him, and so he’s in a bit of a mess right now, so I could see him coming here for a year (albeit on a five-year-deal) and then angling for a move.

David Pearl, but that's £170,000 a week without a transfer fee so not bad really.

Steve #9, she certainly sounds like a nutter, but it was reported that he fired his own mother and took on a new agent in Feb after the Barca deal fiasco.
Several quotes from past coaches/colleagues suggest he may not be of dubious character at all, rather a sad case of bad advice and representation.
Caveat being; I learned that after a quick google search and a few articles scanned. It’s hard to sympathise with someone who takes themselves off a national team World Cup standby list.

Agent talk to alert bigger clubs, nothing more.

Cant see this happening, not a chance.

Not to say I wouldn't be pissing myself with excitement if it did though !!

Why bother, isn't Schnides back in form...?

Sorry couldn't resist.

As we have to get rid of some fringe players loan players and as other people have stated some of the deadwood, I would like to see some positive moves instead of reading about every player who these sports writers talk about, just to fill space for their editors.

This story might make Gomes' negotiating team think a little though

Supposedly he wants a move to the Shite because he loves Stevie Starfish Gerrard. Perhaps someone should tell him/his ma that Stevie doesn't play there any more?

He's a cock. File under "fuck off".

Mark #11, that was one report in February. More recently Mommie Dearest has continued to present herself as his agent in criticizing PSG for ruining their own season by mistreating her boy.

Rabiot was suspended by PSG for nightclubbing after PSG's home CL loss to MU.

On the subject of potential transfer/s (but not Rabiot) I hope Brands has a cunning plan with regard to Andre Gomes.
If the media (and you're gonna laugh) are to be believed (told yer) WHU have upped their bid to £25m.
Makes you wonder what gets said to the player by our transfer team and if this "apparent" lack of any concrete bid from us up to now is part of a plan, or brinkmanship, or whatever.
If I had to say one thing to Marcel Brands it'd be "Don't fuck it up."

Brian I wouldnt take any notice of the press on this one.

They reported last week that West Ham had offered 18m then they went back with a second bid of 15m!! and now they have upped their bid to 20m.

I think weve got to trust M&M on this one to deliver us a quality MF player be it Gomes or someone else.

Personally I would much sooner concentrate all our efforts to see if we cant get Zouma.

Speaking of Zouma, what's the latest regarding Chelsea'a tranfer ban?
I'm asking as I think it would be unlikely that we could sign the lad if their ban is upheld.

Been reading up on this guy, and his goals to game ratio for a player being quoted as 'top drawer' is very poor indeed. Although he did have a good 2012 season where he got 13, but since then it has been generally, the grand total of one, yes one!

Like many have said we can do a lot better for less outlay, and one with a better goal contribution than a ' Rabiot in the Headlights ' sorry guys, I'll pick my coat up on the way out.

Could he be the replacement for Gana. The PSG rumours have resurfaced.

More likely a Gomes alternative than Gueye.
Martin Berry
27 Posted 04/06/2019 at 19:14:10
A strange one this, he is out of contract yet PSG were/are still interested in Gueye, I suppose there must be a reason why his contract has not been re negotiated and they want Gueye ?
I suspect that Gueye has been told by Everton to stick with us until the end of the season just gone and we will let you leave for PSG in the summer, hence his improved form in the latter half.
Maybe I am just making too much but I think there maybe something in this rumour.

Brian 20 your final comment is what concerns me.
I get the feeling that it’s like the house of cards! once one deal is complete everything falls into place, or goes completely to pot.
Brands must have something already in place for Gomes with Barca.

Jay 21 I also agree with your comments in respect of Zouma. I appreciate its mainly media driven, but something needs to happen soon.

I get a ‘steer clear’ feeling about Rabiot. I’ve got no evidence but let Man U have him.

Re Sosa, no work permit! sounds familiar. Even if he gets a passport later this year, we can’t play him until he does. One for the future maybe! Buy him by all means and loan him straight back until he’s available.
