Season › 2024-25 › News Who is Adam Aznou? The latest left-back linked with Everton Harry Diamond 22/07/2025 7comments | Jump to last Everton reportedly hold an interest in signing Bayern Munich teenager Adam Aznou as the club look to sign cover at left-back. The Blues lack depth behind Vitaliy Mykolenko and Aznou is being targeted as an option to provide competition and cover for the Ukrainian, according to The Athletic. But who is the Bayern teenager? And what could he bring to David Moyes’ squad? A product of two top academies Born in Barcelona, Aznou spent three seasons with Barcelona’s famed La Masia talent factory before moving to Germany to join Bayern Munich in 2022. He was invited to train with Bayern’s senior team while just 16, before making his first-team debut in 2024. Aznou has made four appearances for Bayern in all competitions. In February, he joined Spanish side Real Valladolid on loan for the second half of the 2024-25 campaign. He made 13 appearances in what were testing circumstances at the Estadio Jose Zorilla. Valladolid failed to win in La Liga from January 12th onwards, losing 18 of their final 19 games to finish bottom of the table. At international level, Aznou represented Spain at youth level before pledging his allegiance to Morocco. He has won three senior caps for The Atlas Lions. What does the data say? Judging defenders on statistical volume can be dangerous territory, with those in struggling sides required to do a greater amount of defensive work. That said, there are encouraging numbers in Aznou’s game, albeit from a small sample size. He averaged more tackles (2.81) per 90 than Mykolenko (1.84) last season and ranked in the top 5% of full-backs in Europe for tackles won, ball recoveries and percentage of aerial duels won (68.8%) in 2024/25. Crucially, his numbers for take-ons attempted (4.12) and completed (1.91) per game also put Aznou in the top 5% of his positional peers. In a side that went winless during his time in La Liga, it’s a sign of the energetic outlet he could bring. An excellent dribbler, Aznou showed during some brilliant UEFA Youth League performances for Bayern his ability to evade pressure with ease. Alongside tenacious defensive work, he has the fundamentals to evolve into a well-rounded full-back option. Given the presence of Alphonso Davies ahead of him at Bayern, a move to the Premier League could appeal. He’s determined to earn a place in the Morocco squad for next summer’s World Cup. Disclaimer () Eddie Palin 1 Posted 22/07/2025 at 14:36:33 Get him signed, then he can be another of our representatives at the African Cup of Nations. Come December, we should be able to rest as we will have no players.Great thinking, Blues. Joe McMahon 2 Posted 22/07/2025 at 14:50:34 One that won't be coming. Douglas Luiz' agent Kia Joorabchian will fly to the UK to discuss a potential move to Nottingham Forest.(source Everton Xtra in twitter) Robert Tressell 3 Posted 22/07/2025 at 14:55:05 Also linked with Keita Kosugi, the 19 year old Japanese LB playing for Djurgardens in Sweden. Kosugi would probably cost about £6m or so.Hopefully one of these deals comes off because both are talented footballers (more talented than Mykolenko - whom they could succeed in a season or two) and be our main LB for the next 10 years.Very low cost, low risk way of building up a good side. Danny O'Neill 4 Posted 22/07/2025 at 14:56:39 It's a tentative unfounded rumour Eddie. If (if), it happened, he'd be backup to Mykolenko, who definitely won't be going to the African nations. Those are the types of market we should be casting our net to Robert. Avoid the obvious where you pay inflated prices. South Korea is another one. Rob Dolby 5 Posted 22/07/2025 at 15:47:55 Can any of them play right back or right mid.We already have a solid left back.We don't have a solid right back. Eddie Palin 6 Posted 22/07/2025 at 16:04:10 I thank you most sincerely, Danny, for your input. I, however, now feel the need to explain to you that I was writing that comment slightly tongue-in-cheek. If you get my drift?
