Season › 2024-25 › News Transport to new Everton stadium 'functioning well' Jenny Coleman, BBC News 12/08/2025 14comments | Jump to last Everton's inaugural fixture at Hill Dickinson Stadium took place at the weekend, with more than 50,000 fans watching the Blues play AS Roma. Saturday's game was the first full-capacity match at the 53,000-seater stadium on the Mersey waterfront, following Everton's move from Goodison Park. It follows concerns, in recent month, over how large crowds of supporters would travel to and from the new ground at Bramley-Moore Dock. Fans who attended the match have been sharing their views on the available public transport and the parking options at the event, with a city councillor saying the travel infrastructure "functioned well". Disclaimer () Tony Byrne 1 Posted 12/08/2025 at 11:21:41 We came in direct from Hunts cross station to sandhills, we had no issues at all, going back from sandhills was as expected, busy, though it was well organised by merseyrail staff. I was back home by 18:10, which is actually a bit earlier than when I parked at goodison!positive experience personally.Lets see if we have that many stewards at our home games in a few months time? Dennis Stevens 2 Posted 12/08/2025 at 15:48:14 I thought it was a most enjoyable stroll along the Mersey. Although, it was a pleasantly warm day. Jack Convery 3 Posted 12/08/2025 at 17:02:08 It certainly is. Jack Grealish has just arrived. Mike Keating 4 Posted 12/08/2025 at 18:29:11 5 of us decided to try the options;2 took the train from Aigburth 2 took the bus from Commutation RowAnd I gallantly accepted a lift to see how near we could get to the ground. We all arrived around the same time and important to note the car ended up being overtaken by the walk up fans on Great Howard Street. We all opted for the shuttle bus back to Liverpool One which was excellent but bear in mind we didn't stay for the Legends game.On a sour note, we missed the ko because two of our digital tickets were blocked. Ended up in a very long queue for the ticket office where I was told they were blocked as we had requested 2 paper tickets - absolute nonesense.Disappointed when we got in at the lack of BLUE! Andy Duff 5 Posted 13/08/2025 at 13:48:17 Got train to Limestreet then one of the match buses to the stadium. The bus took 30 mins to get to the stadium stuck in traffic nearly all the way. Complete waste of time. Won't be using that again. Mad that bendy bus Rotheram thinks buses are the answer. It would have been quicker to walk Mike Keating 6 Posted 13/08/2025 at 15:45:42 Andy - any improvement on the way back to the city centre? Duncan McDine 7 Posted 13/08/2025 at 16:08:21 I was sent on a wild goose chase from the city centre by bus drivers and metro workers, but eventually got to the long queue of blues patiently waiting for the busses towards Bramley Moore (I want to say it's the 919 bus, but don't quote me on that!). Waited about 20 to 30 mins before getting on the bus (£4 return) and another 20 mins later we were dropped off with 5 mins walk to the ground.I didn't bother using my return ticket as it was much quicker to walk back into town (I got a move on and did it in less than 20 mins, weaving through the crowds).I can't see myself doing anything other than walking there and back for future visits. Duncan McDine 8 Posted 13/08/2025 at 16:12:51 On a separate note about the stadium... I got there with just a few minutes to spare, so didn't see it empty. But my mate got in early and sent a photo... it was only then that I realised there was no EFC or EVERTON spelt out in white seats amongst the blue seats. Just a sea of blue seats. What do people reckon?... its a slight disappointment IMO Danny O'Neill 9 Posted 13/08/2025 at 16:29:10 No real difference from Goodison Duncan. Since all seater stadiums, no need to grab your spec, so a lot of people get in late. I got in an hour before and watched the warm up.Personally, I'm not too fussed about the white seats. I think it looks fine all blue, but I guess it's opinions. In terms of transport. Taxi from Lime Street to the Tai Pan. Those black cab drivers know those streets like the back of their hand. And at £6.80 (County Road was £10), between say 4 of you, probably cheaper than the bus. Mike Connolly 10 Posted 13/08/2025 at 16:38:00 i walked down from the city centre it was great to see the pubs full of blues. normally its the red side fans in the centre we are slowley claiming the city back Mike Keating 11 Posted 13/08/2025 at 17:28:43 Danny - any problem getting a cab back? Danny O'Neill 12 Posted 13/08/2025 at 17:43:16 No. I walked back to Tai Pan and got one easy Billy Bradshaw 13 Posted 13/08/2025 at 20:43:15 Walking there and back from the city centre won't be very nice on a January night in the rain, sleet or snow. Bill Watson 14 Posted 14/08/2025 at 11:54:30 I normally get the bus from Commutation Row but just to try out Sandhills I got the train to and from Central.Just a heads up for those returning to Liverpool; those steps over the new station bridge are a killer. The long term solution is a new station nearer the ground. No problems, at all, but there really needs to be a shuttle bus service from Sandhills to the stadium. It's a 15-minute walk, which was okay in the good weather, but on a cold, wet, winter's day, you'd get to the stadium soaking wet and frozen.
