Updated Everton have finalised the season-long loan signing of Jesper Lindstrøm from Napoli with an option to make the deal permanent next summer.
The two clubs came to an agreement over the Dane earlier this week, with Lindstrøm then agreeing personal terms and undergoing successful medical yesterday.
The 24-year-old will reportedly join on a £2.5m season-long loan with the Blues having the option to make the transfer permanent next summer around for £18m.
Lindstrøm began his senior career at Brondby in his native Denmark before Eintracht Frankfurt snapped him up and it was his form in the Bundesliga that persuaded Napoli to sign him for a reported €30m a year ago ahead of Liverpool who had expressed serious interest.
Unfortuntately for him, however, he was not able to reproduce that form in Serie A, his abiity to settle in Italy hampered by the instability at Napoli that saw him play under three different head coaches in Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri and Francesco Calzona.
A move to Goodison Park and the Premier League gives the forward the chance to reignite his career while injecting much-needed pace into Sean Dyche’s team.
“It’s amazing to represent Everton,” the Dane told evertontv when he was unveield as the Club’s latest summer signing. “This is a big club, with big history, a good stadium and, as I’ve seen, very good facilities as well. I’m very, very happy to be here and I feel like this is a good fit.
“I am 100 per cent ready. I’m so hungry. This pre-season feels long because I just want to play football, I just want to be out there in the stadium. Last year was a tough year for me but I’m so happy to be here now and I can’t wait to get started.”
