Everton’s Kevin Thelwell, set to leave the club at the end of the season, will become the new sporting director for Rangers in Scotland.
His departure from Everton was announced last night as the club, owned by The Friedkin Group, prepares to move from a single director of football to a wider leadership role next season. Angus Kinner, CEO at Leeds United currently, will also join Everton as the chief executive.
“Incoming Everton CEO Angus Kinnear will lead the implementation of the new sporting leadership team, with senior appointments to be announced in due course,” stated Everton in a media release.
Thelwell had been with the Toffees for three years after leaving his role as the head of sport at New York Red Bulls. He also has the experience of working as a sporting director for Wolverhampton Wanderers and also played various roles at Preston North End and Derby County previously.
