With Everton’s need for a new right-back all too obvious, the link has been made with Tariq Lamptey, who has expressed a desire to leave Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton are said to have already expressed interest in signing him.
Injuries have severely restricted Lamptey’s game time this season, he’s played just 10 minutes of Premier League football so far, coming off the bench in Brighton’s 2-2 draw at home to Wolves on 26 October.
The Ghana international, who has been capped 11 times, is on a contract at the Amex Stadium that is due to expire at the end of the season, with the claim being made that he’d prefer to stay in England if he can, despite the likes of Juventus also showing interest in him.
But Lamptey is only a diminutive 5ft 4in tall and is at an obvious disadvantage against taller and more robust physical specimens that are increasingly dominating the Premier League. It remains to be seen whether Everton will actually make an approach for him in January.
