Everton have announced the appointment of Martyn Hawkins as their new Chief Financial Officer.

A highly experienced chartered accountant and consultant, Martyn brings with him more than 20 years of financial and strategic leadership within the sports industry.

Beginning his career as an auditor with global financial services firm Deloitte, Martyn progressed to become a highly regarded senior consultant in their Sports Business Group.

He spent 12 years with Manchester City and the City Football Group (CFG), where he held senior positions including Interim Group CFO, Group Finance Director and Club Finance Director.

Most recently, he has been leading his own sports business, Caerulea Sports Advisory, working with organisations across the football industry.

Appears to be a great hire! The 12 years he spent up the Lanc was similar to the journey we are about to begin: from the barely-wealthy (in Premier League Owners terms) & not-the-shrewdest ownership (going through financial limits to sign an overated Robinho?) of Thaksin Shinawatra to the top-of-the-class, Oil-Rich current owner (winning a Treble and contending in Champions League annually).
