Everton Women beat West Ham 1-0 at Goodison Park to secure their third consecutive win. Honoka Hayashi’s seventh minute-strike decided the contest to help the Blues pick up three straight wins for the first time since January 2023.

Arriving into this game after back-to-back wins over Aston Villa and London City, Scott Phelan decided to name an unchanged XI from the last two encounters.

The hosts began the contest on a strong note with Hayashi converting Hannah Blundell’s low-cross at the back-post to celebrate in front of the Gwladys Street End. The breakaway move began with Yuka Momiki finding Blundell on the right before the full-back sent a fantastic cross into the area.

Everton almost had a second after Momiki’s long ball caused confusion in the Hammers' backline but goalkeeper Kinga Szemik recovered well to clear the ball. The Polish goalkeeper was called into action soon after and got down to deny Inma Gabarro her second goal in as many games.

Although the visitors upped the ante in the second half, they struggled to break down the backline and test Courtney Brosnan’s goal. Everton should’ve wrapped up the contest when Gabarro found herself in acres of space but her tame effort got saved by Szemik.

The hosts held on to secure all three points at home and Phelan became the first Everton manager to win back-to-back Women’s Super League games. Everton are eighth in the league table and will turn their attention towards the FA Cup, where they are scheduled to face rivals Liverpool on Sunday, February 22.
