James Garner aims to make his “dream come true” with a maiden senior England cap after securing his first-ever national team call-up. The Everton midfielder was named in the Three Lions squad for the upcoming international break.
Thomas Tuchel’s side will face Uruguay on March 27 and Japan on March 31.
Garner has been the most consistent performer for the Toffees this season and demonstrated his majestic ability once again against Chelsea. It was his defence splitting pass that allowed Beto to score the opener, leading to a 3-0 win at home.
It was Garner’s sixth assist of the season, now equal with Jack Grealish as the highest for the Toffees.
“I'm trying to do everything. I'm trying to win the ball, I'm trying to create, I'm trying to score and I'm trying to lead,” said the midfielder.
“Whatever I can do. If I can't affect the game one way, I'll be affecting it the other way.”
When asked about his inclusion in the national team, Garner added, “I can't wait to get there. I'm hoping I'll get my first cap because it'll be a dream come true.”

He's part of the group for Uruguay on Friday.
Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon, Elliot Anderson, Nico O'Reilly, Marc Guéhi, Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn, and Dean Henderson will all join up late for the Japan game.
Tuchel is handing a bit of rest to the players who've played in Europe for Friday's game.
It's not been confirmed which players will leave after Friday's game.
