Everton have shown a late interest in signing Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea.
The Toffees suffered a massive setback with Jack Grealish ruled out for the rest of the season and the Manchester City loanee could undergo surgery to repair the stress fracture in his foot.
It could force the Blues into bringing in another forward in the remaining days of the transfer window.
“The Merseyside club expect to face significant competition from clubs in England and Europe for the 19-year-old winger, who has made only five starts for Chelsea this season,” reports The Athletic.
Fabrizio Romano recently reports that Everton have sent an official offer to Chelsea regarding loan deal with an option to buy the player.
“Everton send official loan with option to buy proposal to Chelsea for Tyrique George. #EFC currently leading the race for George as talks are underway with many clubs keen on Chelsea player,” he posted on X.
George was close to leaving Chelsea to join Fulham on a permanent deal last summer, but his parent side is now exploring loan options instead.
In the pre-match press conference before facing Brighton, manager David Moyes said that while Everton are still looking at the market, “it’s probably less likely than likely” that they will end up doing business.
