Italian outlets ViolaNews and Tuttomercato are reporting that Fiorentina are stepping up their interest in Everton striker Beto, with talks progressing over a proposed €20M (£17M) deal.
The 28-year-old forward has reportedly given his green light to the move, and is keen on a return to Serie A where he previously enjoyed success with Udinese. Fiorentina have identified Beto as a primary target as they look to reshape their frontline, with ex-Toffee Moise Kean heavily linked with a move to Como and alternative target Joshua Zirkzee’s situation remaining complex.
However, a deal is far from finalized on the Everton side. Reports indicate that Blues management are unwilling to sanction Beto's departure late in the transfer window without first securing an adequate replacement.
Having signed from Udinese for around £26M in 2023, Beto has struggled to consistently secure the primary centre-forward role. While Everton would be taking a slight loss on the original fee, a €20M figure could provide useful funds for a late rebuild — provided David Moyes and the recruitment team can line up a successor in time.
The interest from Italy makes sense given his prior Serie A profile, and the €20M fee is plausible. However, unless Everton lock down a replacement striker, this transfer seems likely to remain on hold, regardless of the player's readiness to return to Italy.

Good deal for everyone. The potential deal for Folarin Balogun for a similar fee would be a great deal, but seems like an unrealistic fee unless Monaco are skint or are in a position like us with Ndiaye, where they have to accept a lowball offer to bring someone in.
It would be very strange to have 3 senior strikers in Balogun, Richarlison and Barry... Is that even realistic for us??
As for Beto, I wish him all the best. He always gave his best and could be effective for periods in a season... Usually from February or March onwards.

I always liked Beto's effort, and he is a battering ram up top, but he has the touch of a [reference edited for common decency].
If we can effectively trade Beto for Balogun and even make a few million, that would be good business. The latter is no more proven at Premier League level, but he showed a lot of promise in the World Cup.

I'd agree with Chris, effectively exchanging Beto for Balogun is a positive deal, the latter looks like he has searing pace and it would be great to add more of that.
Granted we make (another) loss on paper but amortisation sees to most of that and let's face it, we were done over on his fee.

Obviously not the most cultured footballer, but one who always gave 100%, he always looked like he cared and did pop up with a few goals for us. One of those players who you wanted to do well.

Beto tries his best but he's a poor Premier League striker and if we get near £15M happy days.
Ndiaye is our best player. In today's market he's worth £75M easily and for Everton to progress we need to keep him. We did well to get £60M for him and like most of the Premier League, we must be able to find a better, younger, hungrier player for around £30M-£40M.
The fact our known right-back position remains empty but linked with Tete tells me that our recruitment team is still a shambles. Surely Chelsea or Man City have a better prospect than Tete.
Armstrong, sell for £40M and re-invest. Good value for an unproven talent who I do think could become a very good player, but he's still unproven and we have Tim who's similar and should be kept, def not sold for less than £30M.

But he's refusing to sign a new contract, Justin. Whenever that happens, the writing is pretty much always on the wall and the predictable outcome follows eventually, so we have to be clever here while his stock is reasonably high.

Paul, you say he's refusing to sign a new contract but first off he has 3 years on his deal, and second, we don't know the details of the deal, we all know he should be a top earner, did we offer him that?

It's not like there is a plan. It's just ins and outs without a blueprint for improvement within the squad and let's just make up the numbers.
It appears that Moyes just subscribes to running a team based upon guesswork and, because of that club approach, they risk the wrath of the fans as we go into survival mode.

As it stands at present we have sold our best player and brought in three players who are nearing the end of their careers.
No doubt they will be first choice picks and our exciting young players will gradually become discontented warming the bench.
We looked like we were developing into an exciting team in those first three games. Oh well... it could have been good.

Justin, I don't understand how Liverpool continue to get absolute top dollar for players, many times ripping the buying team off, but Everton always get fleeced. Iliman Ndiaye is Everton's most exciting player, who is probably frustrated playing for a team that just won't improve or play in Europe.

The thing with Beto is that we probably don't play to his strengths. But if he goes, I'm sure his sunny nature and enthusiasm will be missed by the team and fans.
I feel sorry for any forward playing for us. It's tough upfront.

Of all the hit-and-miss strikers we've bought this decade, I like Beto the most. He has thrived when we played to his strengths, rather than treat him like a big lump centre-forward.
If the fee is correct, however, then it's probably time to part ways -- we need to upgrade one of these two strikers.

Lots of people like Beto, but liking a player doesn't make him good at football. He's just not a very good footballer.
I have nothing against the bloke but he doesn't score enough goals and his all-round play is a bit shit. Waving your arms around and pumping up the crowd doesn't wash with me. I want a goal scorer.

My wife’s main comment when forced to watch Everton was “what’s up with that Bento?”

I’ve kind of reconciled Ndiaye and Beto going but on the basis that we would get Richarlison, Grealish and Balogun.
If we don’t get any of those three, we’re fucked. If we get Grealish and Balogun we’re semi-fucked.
