With 10 Everton players away on international duty during this extended 3-week break, it should come as no surprise that David Moyes is having to scour the depths of Everton Academy to find warm bodies who can make up the numbers.
But a big deal is being made of 15 year-old centre-back Francis Boggan, who trained with Everton’s senior squad for the first time on Tuesday. Boggan, born on 12 April 2011, is a current England U16 international and is one of Everton’s most highly regarded academy talents.
Late last year, Boggan became Everton’s youngest ever U18 player at just 14 years and 204 days old. Not long before that, he was also offered his customary scholarship with Everton Academy 2 years early.
Despite being only 15, Boggan has been fast-tracked into Everton’s Under-18s, making nine appearances in the U18 Premier League last season and continuing to feature prominently in the 2026–27 campaign.
Boggan was born in England and plays internationally for England U15s, though he also holds Italian heritage through an Italian grandfather.
With Everton planning a behind-closed-doors training match against Blackburn Rovers some time this week, there’s a chance that Boggan could be involved.
