We’re making a change to the way you interact with ToffeeWeb.

From Wednesday 23rd September, our Comments and Live Chat will move to Arena — giving Blues a faster, smoother and more modern way to have their say, whether you’re reading an article or following Everton on matchday.

Arena also works with evertonfc.com, so many of you may already be familiar with the system.

What’s changing?

The system is designed to work seamlessly across desktop, mobile and tablet.

You’ll only need to sign up once and you’ll be recognised across both Comments and Live Chat.

There’s nothing complicated to set up and, once you’re signed in, you can get straight back to doing what you came here for — talking about Everton.

New Live Chat

Follow the game with the rest of the crowd, in real time.

React the second something happens, reply directly to other Blues, share GIFs and emojis, and experience the highs and lows of an Everton match together as it unfolds.

Whether it’s a last-minute winner, a controversial decision or something that has everyone shouting at their screens, Live Chat gives you somewhere to share that reaction instantly.

Improved Comments

Have your say on everything happening at Everton.

From match reports and transfer talk to the latest news and opinion, you’ll be able to post your thoughts, reply directly to fellow Blues and react to the comments you rate.

And because the conversation stays right there in the article, it’s easy to come back later and pick up where you left off.

One account across ToffeeWeb

Signing up is quick and straightforward.

Create your account through Google, Facebook or X for one-tap access, or set up an account using your email address. It should take around 30 seconds.

Once you’re signed up, one account works across both ToffeeWeb Comments and Live Chat.

The new system goes live on Wednesday 23rd September. We’ll see you in the comments — and on matchday.

A thank you for your ongoing support

ToffeeWeb users, firstly the team would like to take the time to thank you for your ongoing support. It really is appreciated.

Recent months have been challenging as we have navigated the launch of the new site, dealing with technical issues and aligning with Google’s ever-changing demands. We are aware that not all changes were greeted positively, and wanted to provide some explanation and clarification for these sensitive changes.

The increased optics around sports betting are in response to Google’s latest changes, which no longer allow sites to filter such content into the background.

In order to rank highly on authority for both news and sports betting, both must be clearly visible in the site’s semantics. Please be assured that the usual Everton news, discussion, and feature flow will remain the forefront focus.

It’s important that our content plan as a whole appeals to our three pillars: the everyday TW community, external aggregators, and Google Search and Discover traffic.

This is the most challenging period in memory for online publishers. Google’s AI Overview has impacted all publishers, essentially extracting information from articles in summaries that prevents click-throughs to the original source.

Tech updates

Our roadmap for the remainder of 2026 includes continuing to work on improving the overall ToffeeWeb experience.

ToffeeWeb’s incredibly large historical database for content, and the shift from an old tech platform to a more modern host, has been challenging, and we appreciate your patience (and flagging) of recent issues.

The technical team has opted to wait until the international break for the changes to the comment system, in a bid to avoid the mid-season disruption seen last November. Thanks again for your patience with the process.

Coming soon will be a ToffeeWeb newsletter, which will be sent twice a week via email, covering the pre and post-match talking points. Sign-ups are optional and users can unsubscribe at any time.

We also have plans to introduce a non-advert version of ToffeeWeb, at a small subscription cost. We’ll keep you updated with those plans.
