Everton U21s defender, Luca Davis has joined Morecambe of the National League North on loan. The 20-year-old, who plays on the right side of defence for Paul Tait’s side, has agreed a move to the Halo Aerospace Stadium until January 2027.
Davis joined the Everton Academy from Bury at the age of 13 and has become a fixture for the U21s after developing well through the U18s. The young defender enjoyed an impressive 2025-26 season, making 16 appearances across Premier League 2, the National League Cup and the Premier League International Cup.
So far this season, Davis has played five times in Premier League 2 and the National League Cup fixtures.
On joining the fifth-tier side, he said: “I’m over the moon to join such a massive club. I was attracted by Morecambe’s style of play and the size of the club.
“I’m excited to make a difference on the pitch and help get the Shrimps back to where they belong.”
While sending youngsters out on loan is a vital rite of passage, the standard they play at often tells you everything you need to know about their trajectory. For a 20-year-old coming out of a Category 1 Premier League academy, dropping down to the National League might be a useful experience, but statistically, it rarely serves as a stepping stone to a top-flight career.
