Paul Hughes 2 Posted 26/09/2025 at 15:05:49 I remember it well, I was in the middle of the Park End, with a cracking view of the goal-mouth. Early goal by Ljungberg, scrappy indeed. But preceded by Thierry Henri doing what he did, picking the ball up deep on the left touchline, and leaving several blue shirts tackling fresh air as he made his way to the penalty box.I also remember David Seaman. A few days earlier in a England qualifier against Macedonia, he'd thrown the ball into his own net from a corner, and come in for pelters from the press. At one point in the second half, a long looping cross headed towards his back post, as it hung in the air, the whole of the Park End went 'Whoooaaaa!!!' When he caught it, he turned round to the crowd with a huge grin on his face. Class.I saw Rooney's shot all the way and, when it went in off the bar... absolute pandemonium. Rooney almost scored another, an outside-of-the foot chip, which had Seaman beaten again, but landed on the top of the net. What a game!
