After three seasons at Everton, James Garner is finally showing some solid consistency in his performances, and that seems to have been noticed down the East Lancs Road with the Rumour Mill claiming that Manchester United will be looking to take their protégé back to Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer.
In September 2022, he left Old Trafford for Goodison Park in a £15M deal that included £9M upfront and £6M in add-ons. After a rocky start, he’s become an increasingly important member of the Everton first-team squad returning from a back injury that saw him miss a big chunk of last season to establish himself as a regular under David Moyes.
Garner, 24, has been one of Everton’s standout performers this season and is gaining a reputation as a valuable utility man, having featured as a midfielder, left-back and right-back so far – and playing well in all three positions.
However, it has already been mentioned that Everton are in talks on a new contract, which should be sufficient to deter the likes of Man Utd and any others who may seek to benefit from his services.
