Another Everton youngster, Jenson Metcalfe, has sustained a foot injury while on loan at Chesterfield that will keep him out for some months, into the New Year.
The 20-year-old is on a season-long loan at the SMH Group Stadium and has had regular game-time for the Spireites. He has started the last four League Two games but missed last Saturday’s match against Accrington Stanley.
His loan was seen as an appropriate progression after he put in a solid season for Everton U21s in their 2023-24 PL2 season, topping the Appearances table with 18 league and 8 cup games played, scoring 2 goals in each category.
His injury is a blow for Chesterfield because he had struck up a promising partnership with Darren Oldaker in central midfield and was named Man of the Match against Horsham in the FA Cup.
